NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DON'T DO IT!!!!

If it's not got 2 8's in it leave it alone. This will be worse performing than your current card

no deal, it's considerably slower than what you have.

8500s are bargain bit parts really.

Assuming it works in your system I strongly suggest you save your pennies for 8800GT. You can get one for £150 if you look around and it'll make a huge difference.

The new Radeon HD 3800 series is great if you can't afford the 8800GT also. They're substantially cheaper than the 8800GT but they're definitely not as fast either. Still, for price/performance they're competitive for sure.

Then it depends on his last card, if it was a 7600 or x1550 kinda level, he'll probably see a performance improvement.

:above: Or if he had a good on-board gpu, he might see a performance drop.

Seriously though, plug, send it back saying it's broken and you want full monies refunded. Then tell us your ideal spending monies (then add a little bit when the missus isn't looking) and our collective insanity will pluck a gem from the genies navel, or more pertinently we'll see if we can find you the best card we can for your available monies, because we like to help like that. :likesitall:
