Saving cod4 stats.

just in case you fuckup somehow.

copy profiles from

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players

to somewhere else (the stats file is called mpdata for those who want to poke about)

Also, for those of you that are moving to a legit key. do this:

Backup your /profiles folder
Open cod4
go to the options menu > multiplayer options
insert your new cd key.
play an MP game (I'd finish a round, just to be safe)
be happy.

(just changing the key and not playing will make it unable to read your stats until you put your old cdkey back in.)
