Teef server: horse random teams?

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Personally, I think it'd be a good idea to horse auto-team-joining, it'd mean a much more even/balanced game, which is good for everyone.

thoughts?

I vote yay. As much fun as it is having a whole red team of 5punk, if you happen to be one of the few stuck on the opposing side, it just becomes annoying. Even if losing, when the rest of the team is 5punk it is somehow more fun than when you're with random spacktards and just getting pwned by 5punkers. You can always resort to a magical maypole-dance of medic gayness and confuse them to death, but random teams would probably help the games to be a lot more balanced.

:above: not to mention, I think randoms hang around much longer if 5punkers are playing on both teams.

Also Yay.

5punkers as a team on games like Teef/Beef are devestating. Teef more so.

Auto random is a good thing.

Its amazing the difference even one full 5punk squad makes in Beef, let alone an entire team on Teef. As disoragnised and unfocused as we can be, even 5punk's modicum amount of organisation beats a bunch of randoms hands-down, due in no small part to teamspac I think. Even when we're not all trying for the same objective, just the bit of extra communication seems to make a hell of a difference. Naturally, it also makes games infinitely more enjoyable, as 99% of our lols would not be possible without TS.

I vote yes,

This way you're more likey to get an even split so you have 5punky mates to play with, even having just 1 5punker on your team makes the difference.

Sounds good, but then I've never really been a fan of 5punk-Team-vs-Random-Team anyway.

Yay. Only problem we encounter generally is that one or two randoms appear to retarded, but thats hardly new.

I voted nay, but I don't really mind.

Having a full team of 5punk is fun, but if there aren't enough randoms to allow this or if someone gets stuck on the other team then it doesn't work.

It started out as fun, but now there are more of us playing, and we've all got our "friends like these" achievement it makes for a much better game to have us on both sides. On the occasions I've been stuck on the blues with the randoms, I've tended to just arse around or use dirty tricks to avoid an otherwise frustrating capitulation*. There have been a few rare games when the randoms have put up a decent fight and beaten us, but largely we're just pissing them off.

*Not in an un-5punky way - I enjoy the game win or lose, it just warrants a small sigh when I hear over TS that all the 5punkers are making a rush for point A when my entire team are busily hitting each other with spanners at B.

It's terrible how often this happens, I know we here on 5punk aren't multi-millionaire genuses, and we all have our odd 'special' moments, but the IQ of some of the people we play seems to consistently be room temperature at best. The internet really is a dangerous place.

Me neither, I keep declining friend invites so I don't end up with everyone twice in friends and the 5punk group.

horse random is good as long as it's auto random. Manual random can be abused.

I think the only problem with the auto-balance is that it appears slightly b0rked (i.e. team swapping the person who is the highest scorer to the other team, regardless of the fact that the other team is winning).

See also: auto-balancing an Engineer who's got his turret in kick arse position and is stopping the other team from running riot and brutally raping everyone (grr).

Just as long as I can keep asking random people random questions, then I don't care if I'm even forced to spectate.
