Spare hardware

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Spare hardware

Post by Lateralus »

I thought I'd make a topic where people could maybe say what they have lying around spare that they don't want and would be willing to give or sell to other needy 5punkers.

I have a 17" Gateway CRT monitor which someone can have for free, if they can pick it up. I'll check what else I have when I get home, but I'm not sure its much just now.

Things I'm vaguely wanting to upgrade are:
GFX (currently have 6600GT 128MB)
Hard drive (would like a 160GB SATA drive)
Sound Card (currently have onboard sound)

I know I could get the last two for not too much now, but if a 5punker has a surplus that they're happy to part with then I'm more likely to actually get round to buying it.

Ooooh. *Eyes up Extigy*

Is that going to perform noticeably better than my old Audigy?

I'd be interested in one of the old soundcards, if they exist, as I figure something has to be better than nothing!

nope, not a hope in hell.

all I used it for was as a mic amp, and to hook my old machine up to my digital surround box.

Ah, ok. Don't think delivery will be an option for me then I'm afraid. I'm really trying to avoid having to post it if I can, and you could probably get one in the small-ads near you for less than the postage.

I've got a 17inch CRT too if anybody fancies a drive by in Telford. Coincidently, a drive by will be exactly what you will get here too

*Thread revival!*

Hallo chaps, I was just wondering if anyone has a spare AGP graphics card they'd be willing to borrow/give.

Basically the card in my old PC has gone and I need to transfer all my important stuff over to my new one as my PATA drives won't work with my new mobo. :x

Sidenote: I was looking at PATA to SATA converters, are these any good? Bearing in mind that it'll only be for transferring and not long term use?

Chars!
