Everyone here is missing the point (Less Dres).
Friz is trying to promote an active corp that is of use to someone and engenders it's self to new members in order for the corp to continue growing
I do sympatise with people saying I'm inactive for reason X or Y, given that I just spent 2 1/2 months AFK, and now have a full social life because I'm back, but how does that help the corp? Or the alliance? Most corps in eve have this policy of your either active and helping, or your not and you start chalking up black marks against your name. 5punkorp has long been berief of that rule because the vast majority have always gone, but I like 5punkorp the way it is. And that's sorta ok, except for the aformentioned lack of use to an alliance.
Getting new members in, as Friz said, isn't going to help the problem. They join, see a corp that's 90% slackers/inactives, and either slack themselves (I've done it, F4T4L) or leave (Seen it happen, BS.I). In either case, this doesn't help the corp, and the vast majority of the time just makes the problem worse. Leaving a corp and starting over, even if it's just the same people in a new corp, has a very rejeuvinating effect. You change the ground rules, have a nice new focus, and get a clean slate to get things right with.
Some of you might remeber my little speach back in march in corp chat about how you go about reviving a dying corp. We tried that, iirc, and it didn't seem to work all that well.
End of the day, this is a game, and everyone who plays it, even CEOs should remeber it's intended to be fun. If your not getting some kick from this, you need a change of scenary (Be it a break from eve, a new corp, or leaving eve completly).
I'm not trying to tell you your all wrong with your opinions, just that your miss-intrepting how Friz's post was ment. In reality, if Friz, Rabbit, Jimmy and Dres (Apoligies if I've missed people who are good and properly active, I'm not online enough to judge these things) all left today, and forumed Uber-5punk (for lack of a better name), what difference would it make to your mission running?

Well said Hulky!
I will put up a bigger post soon ™ but as a very active member of 5punk, I find it irratating at times that im the only member of 5punk in roaming gangs etc (I know sometimes others are in, but im just talking about majority, so I dont mean to affend people!!!)
It used to be great a few months ago (maybe more) when we had gangs of atleast 4/5 5punkers in! It makes me feel good seeing the corp like that (if that makes anyway sense).

Good point Hulk. The question I would ask is are we a pvp band of brothers or are we industrial. If we are industrial then lets uber industrial. If we are pvp then I agree uber-punk may be the best route. Like Amblins corp name also. And if we are industrialists would BUM still want us. I thought i read about one of the group being self sufficient. Though it was Lyrus but I could be wrong.

We're mainly 'light' industry. narf, what we have going with NR and 5punkience is perfect - I couldn't be happier. Dres is putting huge efforts into bringing all the pieces together to achieve our aim within the alliance - make isk, build ships, modules, ammo and ofc skim off a goodly sum for ourselves. Lyrus follow a very similar path to us, except they are predominantly capital ship oriented. Hobo's provide the main PvP horse and are the ones that ultimately we should all be supporting.
That people have RL is fully understood. I have no problems with people only logging on once a month for an hour - that's life. If you have one, count yourself lucky, and tell Jimmy about it sometime. But there is a significant minority within 5punkorp that lets the side down, and it is entirely because we are 5punky that I feel I can't do anything about it. These are the ones who log on, but never say hello. They never participate in any corp activity, be it industry or PvP, and in some cases havn't even bothered to sign up to the forum, let alone read it. Frankly, I don't count them as 5punkers and have come close to booting them several times, but the very nature of 5punkorp has stayed my hand.
Btw, I think the idea of an 'Uber 5punk' is a crap one, mainly for the reasons Lee outlined. And if people really are struggling to follow instructions that I put on Stickies, Announcements, copy to corp mail and Alliance forums then I'm at a loss how to make it any easier. I too am a soldier by trade and once orders have been given, you must rely on a certain proactiveness on the part of the individual to actually get their shit together.

Friz posted what I was going to say while I was typing it.... ^
I'm going to do my best to organize those efforts so we can all work toward the goal of making the alliance self-sufficient on ships, and eventually T2 'stuff'. Getting a production system in place for ships will be the backbone, from researching bpo's to sourcing minerals to delivering built ships. Once that is in place and financially stable, we'll expand to fittings and then to T2 items, but only if we can maintain it with the people we have and recruit by that point.
ofc, 5punkers that want to pew-pew will have ships to fly and ammo to shoot with, so we'll be helping our own.

Well, should we have a separate thread for people to say stuff like this then?Hehulk wrote:I do sympatise with people saying I'm inactive for reason X or Y, given that I just spent 2 1/2 months AFK, and now have a full social life because I'm back, but how does that help the corp? Or the alliance?
State their goals, commitments, anticipated levels of participation, likelihood of availability, timescales of skills-in-training, wishes and hopes for the future?
I would guess it'd help the organisers with planning and corp direction, if nothing else.

Seems a bit too organized and direct to be 5punky, /me smells a spy!
lol, for now I think we'll see if pilot A can fulfill some small task that allows pilot B to do another and so on, with Dres filling holes as needed and finding new tasks to fit people's play levels and styles. I'm really hopeful for some of the things I've started, and also pushing NR along as I can.
Sorting cats is almost as hard as herding them, and we've already got them all in one place and reading a post, so best to keep the attention focused....
another round!!!
I wub you MAN!!!

Well, so long as you're not planning on booting me out then <s> do what you want to the others</s> I'm happier
As for active but antisocial players I just don't understand why anyone would stay. We're all so objectionable I'd have thought they'd leave of their own accord *shrugs* I think we've allways been behind teh "if you're on, join in" principle, although I still shudder at the thought of booting someone just coz they prefer to look at their own personal bit of rock rather than join in the belt gang rape.
I suggest relentless bumming of our quieter citizens
/me remembers Dres' first day in teh corp, not quite sure what to say when he suddenly found himself in a chatbox getting bummed left and right...
Halcyon days, look how he's come on. He even touches ham now
