5punk take the lead?

Post by centerededgedesign »

So far, nobody has stepped forward to support their corp in the alliance logistics effort. Rather than trying to take it all on my shoulders to coordinate with individual bpo holders that haven't stepped forward with any support either, I would like to take 5punkorp to the front of the pack and lead through logistics.

We already own NR by all practical purposes, and therefore have a great source of high ends. We have some bpo's that could be great for inventing some useful T2 ships, and we have a pretty excellent library or module bpo's as well.

What I would like to propose for the next level is increasing our bpo and bpc holdings by starting some production for the alliance, (for sale) and production for sale. Firstly I would like us to procure the needed T2 component bpo's and research them for use. Then I would propose buying Miro's bpo/bpc collection for use in production and invention of T2 ships and modules for our use. (when profitable, sometimes undercutting competitors sell for less than profit, it's not for me to discover why they do it, but taking advantage of a good thing makes good financial sense!)

This would require the use of some corp isks though, and it might be some time before profits are realized, (also due to the fact that low-price buy orders can take awhile to fill). But with the source of high-ends from NR, we can either count on income from that source, or from products sold there, or use minerals to sell cheap ships in empire. So we have several income streams available from existing sources.

Please let me know how you feel about these proposals.

not just in logistics but in everything. to be honest things been stagnant it seems. something or someone needs to step into leadership role and tell people what to do. hate to say it but even in a game 90% of people need someone to tell them what to do.

Dres - that's a seriously big investment you're talking (rough figures off the top of my head, somewhere in the region of 3-5bill start up costs) We're going to need to look at it in a whole lot more detail before you jump in, especially if you want the corp to fund it. Not all invention is profitable by any means and to do it seriously takes quite a large dedicated team with the correct skills trained up. And because of the way it works you can't switch from one race to another all that easily.

However, I'm more than happy to support T1 ship production for the alliance (cruiser, bc, bs) at this stage, including covering the costs of any BPOs if we think we think they are profitable investments. Once that's in place we can start looking at targetted invention if required.

DP - yep, things had once again stagnated in the Alliance after the failure of ER to hold up their side of the bargain in Hale. But we're picking up again in Litom as of now, with Alexandra running US TZ ops and significant efforts being made in the Euro TZ.

5punkorp otoh is quieter than I've ever seen it. narf I've long since given up trying to coerce people into playing the game if they don't want to, so if it dies, it dies.

Would it be profitable to purchase one or two T2 component bpo's at a time, sell T2 bits for profit, and grow that way?

I've got no problem starting small and working up, if it's what WE as a corp want to do. I'm also hoping that a little direction and a goal to get behind will help us out a bit. Also, it might get us some players from other corps that want to help us grow.

In principle, a sound idea. Gallente components especially sell well thanks to the Hulk industry. You can make good returns and it's relatively easy to do. BUT, currently 5punkorp = 3 or 4 active people. I'm personally unwilling/unable to take on anymore atm and I doubt you'll get much help from anyone else (I tried it a while back, got nowhere).

Give it a whirl. T2 Comp BPOs are only a mill or two and a buy order in Jita gets filled up within a day or two.

Got a magnetometric sensor cluster bpo last night, enough stuff to make 1000 units w/ an unresearched bpo, and the one skill I needed. Ran out of play time to get the bpo to the labs though! Will probably haul and build in Goram, sell/buy bits in Jita.

I need to place lower priced sell orders as well, mine filled up within minutes despite being lower than all the sell orders in system!

I'm still estimating 2000 profit pu on a run of 1000 though, so damn good for an unresearched bpo!

If your buy orders for Adv Mats are more than 1 isk above the other buy orders in Jita, they'll fill very quickly indeed, but keep an eye on the sale price of the comps because they adjust to the Adv Mats prices (the sale price usually lags about a week behind as people put tend to build 5k units at a time).

In general, try to do all your trading at weekends in Jita, that's when the market is busiest. Prices will increase during the week as people fight out the buy orders, then they all get filled up starting Friday night. It follows that you'll make the most on sales on a Thursday or Friday before prime time. Not hard and fast rules, but if you're about maximising a small income on startup it's the way to go.

Thanks for the advice! I admittedly have alot to learn, and all pointers are appreciated.

Is there anyone that has voted that would be willing to make a run from Jita to Goram and back once a week or so? While I've not yet built any, Goram's proximity to the labs works out well, as well as it's available build slots and corp office. I'm looking to make this a once a week operation, hop on, pick up one order from the factory, toss another on, deliver product, pick up materials for the next batch, sell product, put up buy orders for the next materials, and fly back to Goram with materials for the next week. Once the bpo is researched up well, I'm probably going to have Jack copy it profusely so I can run more and more batches consecutively, so haulage will be helpful in the future.

Don't bother with copies. They're cheap enough to just buy another one. Saves labour and copy slots!

Also, Mano does the Jita->Sirp->Amarr->Goram->Jita run every Sunday/Monday night. If you have anything you want moved stick it in a freight container and put up a courier contract.

I can make AFK runs back and forth to Jita no problem if you'd like (as long as it's fairly inexpensive stuff of course). I can fly about 27K in an Iteron V - not freighter size, but it's there if it'll help.

I haven't been playing very actively lately due to things getting really busy at work, but have been doing a lot of manufacturing, sales and such. I've got mineral buy orders in Goram and Adahum - we should compare notes to make sure we're not competing with each other there.

I've been watching this and I'll support it anyway I can.

I have small and med bubbles BPOs and I'm in possession of the corp's large bubble BPO - all which could be invented if it tickles your fancy. I also have caldari encryption skills if you would like me to run jobs, as well as a load of manufacturing slots.

Nope, no competition at all, as I've not gotten as far as buying mins yet. Truth be told, we might want to source minerals closer to where the combat horses are now to avoid long haulage and delays to resupplying ships. Would anyone be able to park a toon w/ about 7 buy orders in Berta? (or someplace equally close to the action?) and toss up orders for Trit, Mex, Isogen, Nocxium, and Pyerite? Zyd and Mega we'll source from NR. When I get a volunteer, I'll work out numbers and send isk along.

So, shooty people types, where is close to the front, yet within Empire? Ideally there will be some market activity to fuel our mineral needs, as well as access to factory slots. (my map skills are weak, I know)

Fear: You can invent T2 bubbles? What do they do, scramble warp AND web? Also, if you stack on a full rack of WCS, can you warp out of a bubble, or is there NO way to get around a bubble? (just asking because silly Dres flew a Domi through a camp last night w/ 3 WCS and 4 nano's, and managed not to get deaded). And yes, I'll be needing all the buildy help I can get shortly when things get rolling. People to mine data off websites and place buy/sell orders, people to help move schtuff, and lastly people to help fly cover to deliver ships.

The reason I think 5punk can handle it, and I definitely think we can, is that despite our varied RL commitments, disparate play times, general cat-like non-herdiness, (seriously, can you imagine a 5punk blob?) we do have cat-like reflexes when it comes to things that need to get done. So if we can break this logistical feat into small parts that we can support individually, we'll excel by being 5punky.

AFAIK T2 bubbles anchor faster, have a larger area of effect and more hitpoints. You cannot warp ever ever ever if in a bubble. Not even super capitals can.

Might as well use Maspah, we have an office there already. Oh, and there's a bunch of mins kicking about in Deliveries around Goram, dunno what they were intended for. I'll see about picking it all up sometime.

They were from the ship building spree we had, but when I hopped to NR I couldn't edit the orders any longer, was kinda weird, but the corp has mins. If you need, I can contract them over to myself and pick them up as well. I'll be heading back there soon(ish). Ship building will hereby be conducted in Maspah for the duration of this operation. Those involved in builds and mineral orders, please place appropriate toons there and prepare for WORK! :) I'll be along w/ bp's and build requests soon. When you get a toon in place, let me know and I'll assign market duties, and shortly thereafter build orders.

Sourcing trit will probably be a major start, so anyone closeby to maspah, please post any large sell orders of Trit that you see.

Thanks!

Bomber and Morrill, stick to the tasks we've spoken about....
They'll be revenue stream oriented, and thus, just as important to the alliance as building. Fear, could you organize a google sheet to track ship losses off the KB, and a build queu?

Pretty please?

FYI, I'm using a modified version of this sheet to track the ship bpo's and research. I'll probably further modify it to track modules, drones, ammo, and such. I've asked somebody to make a seperate sheet for T2 component production pricing, so we can track prices better to determine profitability. (Due to time difference, they've not responded yet.)

Why do we need to track them twice? Doesn't a glance at this tell you everything?

A better system would be to keep x stock of each ship (I know we can't do that to begin with). 2 of each popular ship, 1 of the rest? Without a buffer of stock it simply wont be able to react to the alliances demands anyway. Then all you need to do is ensure stock levels are maintained.

We need to introduce as few human tasks as possible, else it wont be sustainable.

Also, the weighted average offered here is very accurate, and once they release a market API I'll write something automated to make it even easier.

Excellent data! Is there one that tracks the price over time though? (to see if it's rising or falling?)

Not to be picky, as that would be easy to track with the wealth of data there.
Thanks much!

(I knew you'd have a simple solution, just thought linking through a spreadsheet would make it easier, but you've got nice clean data already, so thanks!)

NOTE: To the un-named individuals I had contacted re: prices in Jita and Rens.

We'll still need toons in those locations for buy/sell orders, and could you each input the data for pricing into the build sheet for tracking?
