Intel Buys Havok
Intel will acquire Havok, a software tool provider that works primarily with gaming companies. You’ll probably remember them primarily for their work with software physics.
Havok will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel but keep operating its business as usual, according to an Intel press release. It will add to Intel's visual computing and graphics efforts, while continuing to develop products for all computing platforms, the company said.

No, Havok. They're the people who did the physics engine in HL2.

You tart!!
Ageia are the people that were pushing dedicated physics cards upon us. Thusfore they FAIL now that intel own Havok (which is win).

Hopefully intel aren't goint to do something stupid like make an intel ppu with in-built havokiness, and then not let anyone else licence havok from them. that would suck, hard.

I suspect Intel bought Havok so they can optimise their CPUs for Havok for their CPUs.
That'd keep them very much in favour with gamers and get intel optimised code into many games.
Either that, or I'm a cynical old cupcake.

Either way, I imagine Intel will be attaching a money pipe to Havok's bank account now.
So win/win either way.
