5punk's Grand Day Out to York

Post by Lateralus »

Right, votes have been cast and opinions sought, and here is the final plan:

Saturday 15th to Sunday 16th September.

Arrive by lunchtime on the Sat, and congregate somewhere for food and possible drinks. See some of the sights in the afternoon, to include the fantastic Fudge Kitchen. In the evening, more food and then lots more drink. Retire to bed gracefully, and arise for hearty breakfast and departure on the Sunday.

Accomodation is likely to come in the form of a Youth Hostel, unless anyone has a serious problem with that. It's cheaper than a travelodge or the like, and has the bonus of being in the middle of town rather than by a motorway junction.

So, who will be in attendance? Being a weekend, it would be as well to try and book the accommodation sooner rather than later. I will probably be able to drive down, and if so can give a lift to anyone between Newcastle and York.

Hmm, well is there a sway of opinion towards moving it to October to give people more notice?

Youth Hostel just means cheap, you don't have to be young to use it!

I'm going to have to put a sign up in Shartak saying
"Sat. 15th to Sun. 16th September, 5punkers invade York!"

Pffffft. It might be sometime in October now though since a fair few people can't make the dates in Sept, and with the Brum Bash being then too it makes sense to spread the gatherings out a bit.

Thread revive *eleventy!115!

Is this trip going to happen at any point? I would like to point out that york gets shitty and cold very quickly as the days shorten, dunno why, just does. So if this is happening, we can't leave it too late.

I'd like it to happen, but I'm poor at the moment. Early Oct (can't do 20th or 27th) or Nov sometime. When are people free? I reckon I'd drive down and just go for the day, so can give lifts to anyone else in the north-east.

We all know that lat meant the north of england, there's nothing of note above cumbria/northumberland, just the gnashing and wailing of demons and ghosts, thats why hadrian built a wall.

Nothing of note in Cumbria either, unless you like your family tree to be more like a family stump.
