I’ve just finished Absolution Gap, the third book of the trilogy, and I’ve really enjoyed them. They’ve been very good stories, and I’ve found all 3 books to be hard to put down. The first one is more of a scene-setter for the second two I think, but it introduces Reynolds’ universe pretty well. However, this isn’t a review, I was more after someone to explain to me just what happened at the end!
I read the last 20 pages or so in a bit of a rush because I really wanted to finish the book on my lunch break, but the significance of the woman with the butterfly outfit was somewhat lost on me. I know who she was, but I feel that there is some fundamental point to the epilogue that I just didn’t get. I know some of you lovely chaps have read them too, so can anyone shed some light on the situation for me?
I get a little obsessive like that too when I find a series of something I enjoy. A dirty secret of mine is the shelf full of Tom Clancy books at my parents' house. Also got most of the Diskworld books, and I'm working on completing the collection.
Well, I'd never heard of the other books as such (although I'm sure I've seen them in the bookstore). Books here are so horribly expensive and the selection in stores is so lacklustre that even when I do have the time, I haven't been doing much recreational reading recently.
edit: ooh, check out how many posts I have now
