Potions and Herbs and Bottles OH MY! Now including Morrowind

Post by Sledra »

Well, i've taken it upon myself to become a herbalist/alchemist. Now this bodes well for everyone, as it now means that i can feed you an almost inexhaustable supply of potions, and since 90% of ingredients are picked, i hardly have to spend any money doing it.

However, there is one problem, and that is the trouble with flasks. These are the only part of the process that cost me money, and while its not much it soon adds up.

As such i've devised a cheap and easy way for everyone to stay ok;

If i give you a stack of 5 potions, then you give me the cost of the flasks used in the process, eg. 5 minor health potions = 20c. This way you still spend substantially less than at a vendor, and i don't get out of pocket.

If i give you a single potion, eg a weak troll's blood potion, unless it cost me more than the flask to make, or if it requires a flask that costs upwards of 10s for a single piece, then it is free to you. If the potion does require bought ingredients or expensive flasks then i simply ask you make up that difference.

HOLY FUCK!

Having played more hours of Morrowind than I care to imagine, that is awesome. I've never even actually completed the main quest myself - always got far too side-tracked, but I'd heard rumours of this. However, if I hadn't seen it I would never have believed it. Just spent 16mins and 33 secs with my jaw on the floor. That is seriously silly.[/quote]

I have no idea what that was about, but I get the impression that it was a bit of an achievement!

Morrowind is the third game in the Elder Scrolls series (See this thread) and is very very big. There is a main quest - as you just saw completed in an obscenely quick time - but there are hundreds of others too. The game is as open as you want it to be. Theres a minimum of 100hrs game time in the unmodded original to complete all the quests, but Bethesda are very supportive of the modding community, and there are therefore loads of mods out there. They range from additions of single items to addons that are basically the equivilent of a full expansion pack.

In the silly numbers of hours I've played I've never stayed focused enough to complete the main quest, but to do it through normal game-play as opposed to the way it was done there would take ages.

Each story is seperate. This would be a good place to start finding out more. I too have copies of Morrowind and both expansion sets which I'm happy to copy and post off to anyone who may want them.

Ok, well I'm kinda mid-way thru moving house just now, but in a week's time I'll be all nicely settled in, and I can get something sorted for you probably by next weekend.

Nah, i got it for a tenner and started playing, only to be defeated by some old bloke on a brige who summoned two skeletons. Needless to say that put a damper on it and i havent touched it since, but did get it out to look at the map when i saw the speedrun

Well when you're that early into the game, you need to pick who you fight with care. You should give it another go cos its ace once you get into it.

Well i had been told that all i had to do was cross this bridge and talk to some guy, heres what happened:

Me:Hmm, i'm crossing the bridge, theres a guy there, he must be the one i'm supposed to talk to
Him: Summon skeletons, grrrr
Me: wait, what?
Him: grrrr
Me: Argh, the stabbing pain!

I tried getting past that bridge along the coasts, and over the bridge, but still couldn't, so gave up.
