Alliance website - Work In Progress

Post by Fear »

http://wip.betrayalundermayhem.com/

The top banner can change, as I've claimed many a time, I suck with graphics.

Still to do is integrate the killboard.

Security is such that you can write news articles for members eyes only and broadcast them on the front page - for scheduled ops and important information. I will try and make this very easy for any CEO / FC to do also.

I've gone for a dark theme, which works quite well for eve, even though I don't really like dark websites.

Please tell me if you like or don't like it, and be honest. You wont offend me, but if you don't like it please tell me what you would like instead.

I'm not putting this on alliance forums just yet becuase I may be overwhelmed with comments else.

Looks good to me (and I'm using IE6 at work, what's the visual bug?)

I would go for a lighter theme though, if only because ALL eve sites seem to use the same colour scheme.

Integration of a 5chedular type thingy would be aces, although the broadcast news item you mentioned will probably cover it

well done! :likesitall:

Yeah I am half thinking lighter would be better.

Still, it's all in a style sheet so can easily be tweaked, I'll work on the fun stuff (coding) for now.

The visual bug was to do with spacing between the child windows, it seems IE doesn't understand margins as it should - so I've removed them, for now.

<thinking>

I might try to use the default colours in the eve client, copy their window headers and such. Would this be good or just look tacky?

Sweet! What bomber said plus:

Keep it really really simple. I actually like the http://www.eternalrising.net site. Clean, simple, and only has the 4 links that are needed (Forums, Killboard, TS, and Contacts List - although it's not very refined, doesn't all work and isn't all in the same theme, you get the idea)

So yeah, minimal links to stuff. Perhaps something like:

Frontpage (news, recruiting, info about the alliance)
Alliance Forums
Corp Page/forum (like you have already is cool)
TS Info
Contacts Us bit
Blog/Battle Report/shiny pictures page?

If you can try that without too much effort then I would, it may be very good indeed

Agreed, although I would point out that (iirc) Hulky actually requested to have his access pulled because he was going all pyeratey and didn't want to get 5punk in trouble with ISS when he and his scurvey ridden pyerate pals wardecc'd and started hunting us (which they then did.)

Are you pete's alt? :P

an /ignore button would be good though, especially one clever enough to ... say .... felcher any post that BD any given poster might make with the word "retarded noob", childish, or "two shits" in it, whilst displaying the informative ones...

Killboard has mostly been integrated now.

It requires you to be an alliance member to post a km or comment.

I looked at the rekoning's KB and they have a rather clever thing where the system that the kill took place in shows as "Classified" for (i think) 12 hours after the killmail timestamp. That way you can't tell that they're camping <s>Doril</s> any given system. After 12 hours it shows up as Doril though.
