If you dont have one, Create an autoexec.cfg in the /cfg Folder in your csstrike folder.
Edit the autoexec.cfg file with notepad and put
Code: Select all
mat_clipz 0
cl_smooth 0
cl_detailfade 300
mat_bloom 0
mat_specular 0
mat_dxlevel 70
Might make the game look a BIT less nice but with a ATI 9200 Iam getting around 90-100 fps =)

you can't fuck up source.
if config.cfg or autoexec (or anything else) goes titsup - delete it. it'll replace itself automatically.

mat_bumpmap 0 is another one, it turns of bump mapping and gives quite an fps boost.

my tweaks:
cl_c4dynamiclight 1
cl_phys_props_enable 0
net_graph 1
what you've done is horse DirectX 7, make it all jumpy (cl_smooth 0), and taken out all the prettyness. almost better off just playing CS 1.6...

Nah cl_smooth 0 makes it un jumpy for me. If I have it on get a laggy feeling.

THIS.
I usually seem to average 17-30ish with my 128MB 9550 and Athlon 2200 XP. I'll try the edits tonight and let you all know if they have any effect.
Bet you can't wait to hear....

i'm getting 33fps roughly without any fiddling with files, i'll give a look into some tweeks and run the test again soon
edit: i fiddled and saved but for some reason the changes didn't happen, for example i did r_cheapwaterend "1" and the water didn't look any different
must be doing something wrong
