Bioshock: rescue or harvest poll
As I have always taken the path of good, when playing games that gave you an option, I took the path of evil. Although I do get a slight feeling of guilt every time I harvest the little sisters.
What did you do? Is it possible to do both?

I rescued, although I think I found the stroking animation more disturbing than the slug-ripping one.
I think a small dialogue change later on would probably cover all the possibilities, but I might replay it to find out for sure.
The Daddies always appear neutral to me until attacked - don't know if that changes if you harvest a lot.

It's the same for me and I've been harvesting. It does take some of the menace out of them and it's also quite sad to see them thumping on a little sister hole and one doesn't appear because you've got rid of them, one way or another.FatherJack wrote:The Daddies always appear neutral to me until attacked - don't know if that changes if you harvest a lot.

I've been rescuing them.
In most games like this I always play through as a good guy first, then have another go as a complete and utter shit (most fun I ever had doing that was in KOTOR).
Generally what happens in games is that if you go bad, you end up with access to lots of cool stuff but nobody likes you, you go good and you end up sort of suffering in the short term but are better off in the long run (plus karma etc).
For me the benefits of Harvesting the Maddies don't seem worth it.
Slight tangent but still relevant: Oblivion let me down in that you burgle and murder the shit out of people, but as long as you didn't get caught the sun still shone out of your arse. I like that in KOTOR by making certain decisions it ended up affecting you.

This. I often replay as the baddies too, but only if there will be a significant difference in the game as a whole, which I feel won't be the case with Bioshock. Played Fable as an angelic goodie all the way through to the last scene, where for no particular reason I thought "fuck it" and swapped to the dark side.Roman Totale wrote:I've been rescuing them.

It can be annoying when games let you do this, because it removes the feeling that your actions have real consequences. Jade Empire is a particularly egregious example - there's a bit just before the final battle that determines whether you end up good or evil, regardless of how you've behaved up to that point.Lateralus wrote:Played Fable as an angelic goodie all the way through to the last scene, where for no particular reason I thought "fuck it" and swapped to the dark side.

I find it almost impossible to play as "the bad guy" in any computer game, even when I know it'll make the whole experience much more entertaining.
I think this is because I find it quite easy to immerse myself in the games themselves so, essentially, I'm playing as me and I don't go around butchering people for fun. Even if I would like to.
Strange but true.
So, yeah, no killing of the little girls and a happy ending to the whole shebang. Well, except I'm still removing their stupid fucking DRM, that isn't so cheery.
