It will be on the box, but I would have expected it to be shown on online shops pages, I guess they would give you a refund if you complained to the shop though.
Just seen this on the official forums from an Admin re. 2 installs:
Guess that confirms that if you properly uninstall it you're fine but still not great for HD failure,

Code: Select all
you can reinstall the game many times, you can only have it on two computers simultaneously. which is very reasonable, as i can't imagine needing to play the game on many machines for any good reason, at the same time, since you need the disk to play the game.
...
people who are installing on many computers will raise suspicion. we have run tests in the office today uninstalling and reinstalling and had no problems. i was standing there doing these -- because i was testing out the complaints.

Yep, thats the reason I decided to keep my copy instead of sending it back. On the activation support page it says you can get an unlock code to free up your key again if needed.mrbobbins wrote:Guess that confirms that if you properly uninstall it you're fine but still not great for HD failure,
Also, the box does state that you need an internet connection for activation under the system specs, it's pretty small though and I'm sure there's people who don't bother reading the specs at all.

I rang 2K's head office in london and spoke with a guy called 'Simon Turner' who is 2k's Marketing Director for the UK, ive informed him that the activation servers are allowing various UK users to activate their copys of Bioshock that have been either delivered or purchased today.
I also informed him that if this is the case that 2k should contact valve to release the game today as well, as its unfair to the steam buyers.
Simon said that if the UK retail dvd's where activating then this was a breach and he has demanding a answer from technical asap.
He has taken my name and number and promised that he will ring me back when he has got more information.
If this is a breach in the servers or someones mistake then its only fair that everyones retail AND steam copys get activated
