There's different names for chavs, such as townies, ned's (non educated delinquants), but chav is the one that seems to have taken over.

I thought I saw an article in the paper saying that he it was/had been added. It was some article about the word Chave anyway, rather than about the meaning.

Well, There like the vandals who I think are chavs, and then the townies who are hard nuts (of course) but aint little muggin vandals. So I fall under the kinda something along the lines of a "safe chav"...init... :D
