Re: Hearthstone: Not a Review

So thought I'd post here first before making a new thread in case it's a non-starter - is there any interest in organised Hearthstone play? I'm hesitant to say "competitive" as it really won't be, this is 5punk after all. Two options spring to mind. 1 - A simple ladder. Completely open, ju...

Re: lurker needs some upgradez

I'm pretty obsessive about having a clean computer and not keeping stuff I don't need. So I'm not the norm, but all photos and video etc I keep on external drives and/or online storage, I don't keep programs if I'm not actively using them, and I hit disk clean up every week. Windows 8 boots in 15 se...

Re: lurker needs some upgradez

I've been out of the loop in hardware for awhile so can't say too much. I recommend the excellent "Week in Tech" articles on RPS. Annoyingly they're not all tagged properly so here's the lastest one on SSD's. I have a Samsung 840 Pro as do others have around here. In terms of importance we...

Recommended YouTube Channels

Like many people now, I don't watch TV. Any program I particularly want to watch can be found on iPlayer or equivalent and streaming services and sweeping provide things not on TV. Then there's YouTube which now has the capacity to provide quality entertainment, rather then just cat videos (hilariou...

Re: Recommended listening

This doesn't get used much! Anyways, I made this post awhile ago, about the band Lucius. They've now released their first album, Wildewoman , and it's sublime. A lot of unique and different sounds going on but guess it's folk/alternative. This is my repeat album for the time being. I recommend findi...

Re: Lurkers of the world, unite!

Something that's probably been mentioned before but what about an open Google calendar, or similar, with a link to it on the top bar? The main problem I can think of is that the fact that it's not immediately visible might drastically reduce it's usefulness. Worth a shot? I did look into embedding l...

Re: 5punk Awards 2013

Any lurkers out there have an opinion? I sometimes think about posting about this to explain my own personal situation, so I will as you've brought it up but I'll keep it very brief. I wouldn't have considered myself a lurker for the most part - I don't play but I've always been active enough on th...

Thompy wrote:Looking forward to New Girl S3. First two seasons were very strong. If you haven't seen it don't be put off by the premise, yes it's basically a romance sitcom but it's seriously funny at times and the character are suitably wacky. And you know, Zooey Deschanel. She does things to me.

Re: eReading - Kindle vs Nexus 7

Thanks guys, Kindle it is! And I just thought of another pro of the Kindle - not being the most focused when it comes to reading, not having all the tablet functions there as a distraction will help.

Now they just have to release colour E Ink versions.

eReading - Kindle vs Nexus 7

What up bitches. I've decided that I really need to read more after a huge lack of motivation to do so in recent years. So advice on said devices please. My thinking is that a Kindle will provide the better reading experience but by how much? Is prolonged reading on a LCD display straining on the ey...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

I've been watching Orange Is the New Black, currently a Netflix exclusive. It's about a women's prison, in turns funny, tense and shocking and it's totally gripped me. I stayed away from bothering to check Netflix exclusives thinking they'd be a bit shit to only be picked up by them, but after readi...

Re: Humble Bundle Thread.

Word of warning in case you haven't heard. They no longer give out Steam keys, you have to link your Steam account and they add the games to it. I guess that means no spare copy to give if you already own a game. Haven't checked that properly yet though.
