===Beardy tabletop games===

A few 5punkers have clubbed together to recreate pen-and-paper RPGs over the internet. A few experiments have been tried, but generally it seems to have come off best using Skype but otherwise staying as it was intended.

====[[SLA_Industries| SLA Industries]]====

Beardier than Brian Blessed dunked in a vat of testosterone, a Dungeons & Dragonsesque pen and paper RPG - but played over the internet.  SLA Industries is an urban horror roleplaying game set in dark futuristic universe called the World of Progress. The World of Progress spans thousands of worlds, most of which are ruled by the ubiquitous SLA Industries. SLA Industries is a giant megacorporation, the virtually unchallenged power in the World of Progress. Players play the part of Operatives - freelance agents who take jobs from SLA to protect the public and the company.

====[[Shadowrun| Shadowrun]]====

As the above, top beardy action. Run in a world thats kinda like traditional fantasy meets bladerunner.

Gaming

5punk comprises of two parts, the forum and the games. Banter is a large part of what 5punk is about, and it takes place in both and often overlaps. In game this is made more fluid by most of us using Teamspeak.

The games that are played come and go quite quickly as people try new ones then tire of them. However, some do endure and can earn a regular slot on the 5cheduler for months or years. The best way to see which games are being played at the moment is to look at the 5cheduler. The best way to see which games are being played regularly is to check back through the 5cheduler. A lazy way to check which games are being played is to look at the sections below.

Games currently popular

These are the games that will probably be in the 5cheduler right now, and have the highest chance of anyone playing at any given time.

Old Favourites

These games may not have many people playing regularly, but will probably draw some interest if scheduled.

Other games

Many games come and go, often being played by only a couple of people. Sometimes interest will flare if somebody raises ones profile again, sometomes not. The other games section has a list of games that certain 5punkers may be interested in playing.

Regularly scheduled games

Most evenings some of us will be playing something, and watching Xfire and the 5cheduler is the best way to spot when they're happening. Certain favourites have set slots, although the exact flavour of the game can vary (CoD:UO/CoD2/CoD4, BF2/BF2142 etc):

  • Monday: Nothing set
  • Tuesday: CoD:UO
  • Wednesday: Source
  • Thursday: CoD4
  • Friday: Random drunken gaming night
  • Saturday: Nothing set
  • Sunday: Nothing set

Browser games

Many 5punkers play one or more of several web-based MMO games. These don't get scheduled but are popular nontheless due to the way they are played.

UrbanDead

Inconspicuous browser based MMORPG set in the zombie apocalypse, easily played at lunch time at work. 5punkers tend to gravitate towards pubs, occasionally organising excursions such as the Malton Pub Crawl in order to bring sunshine to the lives (or undeaths, as the case may be) of human and zombie alike.

Shartak

A Browser based MMPORG set on a desert island, Featuring Outsiders, Pirates and natives. It's awesome, you should all be playing it. 5punkers currently involved in lots of 5punky plans, as per usual.

Quite similar to Urban dead, likely because the maker was inspired by urbandead.

Atorian

Another inconspicuous browser based game. Set at some point in the future 5punkers in this game are purely self-defensive, but since there's always someone trying to take our planets we never stop fighting.

Travian

Romans, Gauls and Germans (Teutons), all building villages, cities and eventually nations while fighting it out in a browser. 5punkers (well, currently Grimmie, Buzz and Fab) are peaceful in this as well, mainly because the bigger alliances can cause pain.

Servers

This list is likely to change often, so just check Here for our current servers

5punk/Downloads

5punk has its own file mirror, Mainly used for gaming related stuff and handy apps.

The downloads section is passworded so our bandwidth bill doesn't go through the roof from leeching linking sites:

  • User: badger
  • Pass: badger

There's also a lot of content on Files.hairy-arse.com which is unpassworded. So there.

SirDieAloTys FTP

Post-sweeping stuff

Apps we use and how to use them.

Xfire

Xfire is an app that acts as an instant messenger with in game support and allows us to easily join other 5punkers in game.

With the 22/9/06 Xfire update, they introduced a Clan function, this allows users to add everyone to their contact list easily by joining the 5punk clan here, you'll usually be accepted within 24hours.

When signing up at the forum, make sure you add your Xfire username to your forum profile, as this is the core of 5punk, and without Xfire, we wouldn't even be here.

Teamspeak

Teamspeak is our voice comms medium of choice - given the ease of use, and reasonable licensing terms.

  • Server Address: 217.112.95.67:8767
  • Server Password: cranberry (or 6667)

Hamachi

Used to allow us to play older games over the Internet, also allows us to test experimental servers safely and securely.

Basic guide (placeholder until a 5punk-specific one is made)

If Hamachi is needed for a game, the network to join and password for the network will be posted in the scheduler.

Last.fm

We have a last.fm group, last.fm is an plug-in for your media player which keeps track of what music you have been playing.

5punk Slang/Terminology/Memes.

  • TEEF - Team Fortress 2, bit like Beef but with added lulz.
  • BEEF - Our name for Battlefield 2 (Battlefield 2 > BF2 > BF > BEEF)
  • CoD - Our name for the Call of Duty series (usually referring to Call of Duty: United Offensive) Currently used for both CoD:UO and CoD4, just to confuse people.
  • Veal/Future Beef - Sometimes used as slang names for Battlefield 2142.
  • HamAndCheese - Our name for Hamachi. (Also known as "HammyCheese, ChammyHeese Jammyknees")
  • Floorware - Software you've found, often by careless people misplacing CDs.
  • Deject's mom - The mother of one of our members, often heard screaming in the background of Teamspeak. "Werd to your mother!" It is also a widely disputed fact that, yes, the fan does make the room look smaller.
  • Ninja concerts - Cited as the reason for people avoiding arrangements.
  • /me bums - Staple greeting of the Eve players, taken from their gentle (sometimes) in-game sodomy.
  • CAEK! - Like cake, but better.
  • ZOMG! Pie! - Flaky pastry with a nice filling.
  • This Is Not A Code - It's not a code. Probably.
  • REWENGAY - Like revenge, but generally involves more teabagging.
  • Magical Gay Fairy Land - World of Warcraft.
  • Charlie - Don't ask.
  • Chaaaaaarlie - Seriously, just don't ask.
  • CDC - Crudely Drawn Cock. Usually magenta.
  • Zombie Tower - A tower of zombies, used to climb to camping Survivors in the Zombie mod for Counter Strike: Source.
  • SNPG - Salmon Ninja Pirate Gayer; a salmon pink ninja-pirate rank icon with a flowery background, used as a punishment.
  • CAEK WARS - Quake wars.
  • Fista - Microsoft's latest OS. It's shit.
  • Tribbleshooting - Like Troubleshooting, but more 5punky with hints of KAAAAAAAHN!
  • Space Chess - Chicken's term for EVE Online, seems to be gaining popularity with the other 5punkers.
  • Sweeping - an act of cleaning. You may sweep stuff under a rug or into a folder. Such as C:\Trash\.
  • PORQ! - Project Torque. Free Driving game that is as bad as it is awesome.
  • Mexican Chicken - Mexican Chicken punishment rank, only used for the most heinous of crimes on the forum. Not yet seen in the wild.
  • THREEF - Our name for the inevitable Battlefield 3. (Battlefield 3 -> BEEF Three -> Three BEEF -> Threef)

5punk Archives

As well as discussion that directly relates to our games, 5punkers also deposit a lot of information within the pages and threads. To aid in finding the information held in these often rambling threads they are archived below.

Geekfood

Threads about food have proved very popular on 5punk, and many recipies have been posted in various threads. A full catalogue of these recipies can be found here.

Reviews

5punk has a wealth of gamers of all levels and experience. This makes for an excellent testing ground for most games, and as such we have a reviews forum so that we can share our experiences. Many 5punkers have admitted to trusting the reviews of their fellow gamers to those of magazines. An index of our reviews can be found here.

Hardware Stuff

A heap of stuff about stuff, generally written by Berk or cheeseandham.
