ImageSony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves already caused quite a stir with his statement that the 60GB PS3 would soon be no more, and it looks like he's now set to kick up another hubbub, telling GamesIndustry.biz that he expects the PS3 to be "the winner" by March of next year. As if that wasn't a bold enough proclamation, he said that the PS3 "will be far and away the winner when you look at it by March '08," adding that "it's something that is going to be a slow burner, and suddenly it's like a tsunami; it will just overtake you." Let's just hope that tsunami comes at a discount.

Define "winner".

Most expensive?
Biggest failure?
Most hated in Europe?

Perhaps it will catch up during 2008 and maybe by 2009 have sold more, but some big games aren't even due until mid-2008.

Then again, there is this rather strange perception among kids that it is "the best" because it is called Playstation - which I chose to label "stupidity" - so sales will certainly pick up over Christmas.

theres also a strange perception that we should all go "boo sony, ps3 is really expensive" etc..

But personally i just prefer the ps3, i trust sony much more than the other two, they haven't let me down with the consoles I've had from them, whereas Microsoft did, and are continuing to do so.

I don't think it's necessarily strange to point out it costs more than the others, more here than almost anywhere else in the world, especially now that almost everywhere else gets a price cut.

I don't think it's necessarily bad value at £400, given the 360's reliability issues and the Wii not really being comparable as it won't run the same calibre of games.

What annoys is Sony. Their arrogance that their system simply deserves to be #1, while the components inside it that are actually used for playing the games are pretty much equivalent in power to those in the 360. Their mistreatment of their loyal fans in Europe - singling them out for a delayed launch of an inferior version, at an increased price. Also having not enough games exclusive to the system at launcg or announced was a mistake.

This could all have been avoided, and with the other consoles having headstarts, really should have been. Then they might be in a better position to start making announcements about being "winners". Remember this is the Sony Europe president saying this. I guess we'll see.

I probably won't grab one until the end of March, when the game I'm most interested in playing is due. I appreciate not everyone is like me, and may have to choose only one console, so all these multi-platform releases may appeal a lot to them, and the newness and brand name will certainly help it a lot.

But the PS3 is really expensive, and us Europeans have every reason to boo Sony, since they insist on sodomising us.

The only thing the PS3 can do that the 360 can't is Blu-Ray, and the 360 has HD-DVD. The 36o has more games out, and good ones than the PS3 right now. The PS3 doesn't even have as many exclusive games coming in the near future.
