Covert Ops Cloak II fitting issues

Post by Dolly Parton »

Well dp completed another mile stone last night when she completed cloaking 4. Even though it was bed time I of course had to play with ship fittings (new toy syndrome). The only cloaked ship I had at the station where my cloak is, was a purifier (stealth bomber), now it was under the covert op ships so I figured it would fit. Nope when I put in on it say 10000cpu and of course it didn't work. Now the improved cloaking II worked on it.

By the way how is this for a stealth bomber set up (super tight 0.1 pg left over), wondering if I am going to train up bombs but if no covert op cloak I don't see the reason why to use the ship since you limit it to any ship that can use a basic cloaking device.

3 T2 cruise, 1 T2 Improved Cloak
1 T2 AB, 1 sensor booster, 1 sensor dampner
1 T2 SAR, 1 T2 BCS, 1 T2 CPR

Now when I got to my Anathema the other covert op ship I had no issues with the cloak.

What gives, they are both covert op ships but only the probe master gets to use it?

And, is the AB needed? You'll be cloaked quite often.

The win factor of bombers is the fact they don't suffer a speed loss at lvl 4 AND the best thing ever: Can shoot straight after decloaking! They're is no delay on time iirc.

Also, they're best used in groups, you'll need 2/3 to gank cruisers and below.

I made exactly the same mistake of assuming the cov ops cloak would fit a stealth bomber. As it turned out I had way more fun in the bomber even with T1 fittings, since cruises hit from miles away, with a sensor booster you fire and wait to see if they die, if not...leg it and come back cloaked.

I don't think anything ever got a lock on me, although I only ratted down to 0.3 in it.

While it's fun to be to warp cloaked, I've never trained up any sensory stuff, so the cov ops was a bit of a dead-end and an SP sink for me.

Stealth bombers can't use covert ops cloak because a ship that can fire cruise missiles and warp cloaked would be insanely overpowered.

thats what i was hoping. 3 cruise, warp cloaked and those new bombs would be fun. only reason why most of fitting are t2 is i have a lot of that stuff and didn't feel like buying anymore. thanks for info going to have to play with some more fitting i guess.

We tried it in the IAC war, horrendously boring and remarkabley ineffective.

Not entirely dead end. There's the recons (cruiser class cov ops) that use the covops cloak and can warp cloaked. They rock in packs.

^^ that hard

When BUM first formed we had a fair few recon packs. Had the caldari "jamming bitch", minny "webber", gallente "scrammer/dampner" and amarr "zomg where is my cap".
Very effective "hit and run" gang.

Cruisers lead to BC's lead to HACs lead to command ships.

Not dead end in the slightest.

I meant my narrow focus on simply flying a warp-cloaked ship was a bit of an SP sink for me, as I've been able to fly BS for ages, but am still a couple of months away from being able to fit large guns.

HACs and Command ships seem a lifetime away.

... Command ships lead to hate... hate leads to suffering... suffering leads to the dark side...
