Well as my job mainly driving and the radio only can get radio 1 I was thinking of saving for a MP3 player.

my Question is what is the best MP3 player but good on your wallet.

I was looking at 30gb but I dont think i like to have a ipod this time

I believe the Creative Zen is very good, 'tis what I plan on getting when I can be arsed to go down the MP3 player route and I konw a couple of people with them and they are well happy with them

I personally just use my phone. I have a SonyEricsson w300i and a 1GB M2 memory card which does me fine. Fit a dozen albums or so on it, however as a lorry driver you probably want more space than that.

As an aside, I'd never drive with earphones in because they block out noise in a way that speakers don't, and I'd not feel at all safe driving like that. You should possibly also look into either portable speakers or a way of connecting it to the lorry's stereo. Just a thought from my sensible hat.

I was playing if i can that boardcast you the radio! if it works and if not i get speaker i wasnt planing on ear peices to be honest. Only because i be jumping in and out on muli drops

I believe you are also committing an offence to wear headphones covering both ears whilst driving.

Anything except an iPod. The cheaper and more generic you get, the more likely you are to just be able to drag MP3 files to it like a memory stick, rather than be forced into using crappy software like iTunes or the even-worse Sony software.

I think you're talking about an iTrip for an iPod, which is certainly a pretty painless solution. Are they legal in the UK now, because I though that they technically needed a broadcast license when they first came out since they are little radio transmitters. Of course, it would require the purchase of an iPod, and through no personal experience of my own whatsoever I'd go for the Creative ones suggested by the others.

Yeah, that doesn't suprise me, although I've always taken it to be a common sense decision. Not that I would accuse most drivers of having any common sense.

They are now legal, either an exemption from the pirate broadcasting thing, or it was told to fuck off completely. Well, I say they're now legal, but thats because I've seen them in high street shops, doubt they'd stock shady goods.

I think your right on the offence thing fear, having to listen out for the screams of mothers of kids who run into roads/people in the boot of your car etc.

As for mp3 player, creative family, if you've got the cash the vision m. It's slightly cheaper than the same size ipod (no surprise there), build quality is as good which is nice because it was a bit lacking in early creative products, looks nicer and isnt made by apples. Here's one at Ebuyer.

If you don't want the iPod, get the Zen Vision M or a Zune.

Also I've started using iTunes on my PC and I find it perfectly fine. Obviously it doesn't allow you to simply drag and drop music on to the iPod but that's not what it's for. Just because nobody seems to have mentioned it yet: There are versions of the iTrip you can get for other mp3 players, too. Mrs Joose has a zen, and we use a cheap and shitty radio broadcaster thingy for the car. Works, but is kinda crap quality. But Like I said, it were dead cheap. You can get much better quality ones than ours.

Interesting aside: When we bought ours (from dixons, iirc), it had a little sticker on it saying, basically, that although it was legal to own, it was illegal to use. They may have changed the law by now though, and I doubt anyone has ever been done for using one anyway.

zen vision m, I love mine, plus the creative software is really non intrusive and easy to use
