S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is announced and a few screenshots hit the web. In other news, my full stop key on my keyboard wears out from too much use.

Hurrah! The article says that they'd have to use exactly the same locations as the first game and so the levels may be very similar, but the route is pretty much south to north, so there's nothing to stop them just approaching Chernobyl from a different side I suppose. However, it'll be out just after Duke Nukem Forever I imagine.

Also, I didn't realise they were planning a major update for the original. The freeplay mode sounds good, especially since there are some weapons you get near the end that would be fun to get more use from.

I'm hoping they'll expand the map and make it one large seamless area like they promised with the first game.

Werd to Dejects Motha, I shot one guy with one of those fancy rail gun type rifles. I was upset there was no baddy at the end

O.B.L.I.V.I.O.N would be nice, but I don't see it happening.

In this case I suspect a bit of an EA, small fettles/upgrades, but same game, different storyline

Yeah, this. :above: I shot a fair few people in the final bit of the "proper" endings, but would be nice to have it earlier in the game. I may try it again once the promised big update happens, or I may not.

One big seamless level would certainly be better, especially if it's a new landscape, but shinier repetition/reproduction with alternative story line would appeal far less.

Finished the game? Want to dick around? Then d/l the trader mod, that gives the first trader every single gun/armour type in the game, and ups the chance of other traders having some good stuff! Then get your rambo on with the military at the bridge by shooting them in the head with a railgun, whilst wearing a powered exoskellie!

I think I always opted for the special scientist suit I got got over any of the armoured exoskellies; always seemed more useful, especially with the weight limit removed.

that, or the p9zd(sp?)military thing, had nice high resistance for the fighting side, and the nbc suit was ideal for the surviving side.

That's the SEVA suit and it's the best armor besides the Exoskeleton, and if you've ditched the weight limit it's a much more attractive option. The only problem is getting shot with it on reduces it's effectiveness pretty fast. Still, that 90% resistance to radiation is awesome.

I can't get excited by this news. The first game fell massively short of what it promised to deliver in my opinion.

I'm not sure which will take longer, them finishing the second one, or me finishing the first one.

Too much going all the way back the way you've come for miles and having to kill the enemies all over again. Hopefully in the sequel the baddies will do me the courtesy of staying dead.

Well, what the originally promised was unreasonably and impossibly optimistic. Once they figured out what they could do and focused in on that I think they pulled it off really well.
