righto, this is what you need to do should you want the 7 day trial. This will let you play for 7 days (surprisingly) and you wont pay a bean. Should you want to continue playing after 7 days, you start paying and carry on. Huzzah!

1)PM me (using the messaging system in this forum) your email address.
2)i will send you an email, via EVE-online, with the trial key in it.
3)you sign up using the trail key and download the client from the eve online site http://www.eve-online.com
4)you play! hurrah!
5)send me an eve-mail (in game). my chars name is joose. I *may* be able to give you stuff to help you get started. I *will* be able to give you a helping hand. the game is fecking huge, and you *will* be a bit lost at first.

EDIT:One other thing i forgot to mention (cheers stickfigureninja!), the 7 days start from when you first log in to the game, not from when you sign up.

Right, as many of you know, im currently without EVE. This is temporary, fear not. Just cant aford it at the moment :(

Anyway, until ive resolved the matter, you'll need to send trail requests to fab, Stoat or Amblin. See you when i return!

I downloaded the trial, but I'm a bit worried about being lost or spending my beginning money on something useless, so I'm not going to actually run it until someone can give me a hand. It seems a bit scary.

Give us a shout in game. I'm online a lot. The guys are always willing to help and we'll talk you through it, even through you some start up cash so no need to worry too much. I'd stronly advise completing the tutorial in the meantime, it's long and fairly boring, but also essential to understanding the basics.

Oh, and be prepared to be addicted :boogie:

I found this useful for getting 14 day trial passes without having to bother other people via the Buddy program.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EVE_Online under "Cost"
Wikipedia wrote:Free 14-day trials for EVE Online are also available at: https://secure.eve-online.com/ft/?sk=GHELL (this is a Gamershell pass- CCP only offers passes via promotions and a 'Buddy Program')

no no bother me, honest I thrive on it!

Anyone of us will hook you up and be happy to do so. Anything to pull more 5punk out of the Beef ranks.

From https://secure.eve-online.com/affiliate/
By placing an EVE Online banner on your site you generate traffic to the EVE Online webpage. For each new subscriber, your account will be credited with $7. Once you have signed up you will receive your Affiliate ID, a user name and a password for the Affiliate status page. The Affiliate status page shows you how many users have created an EVE Account, using your Affiliate ID.
So ignore my naive previous post :ignore: , you're making Gamershell money by using it, so go bother bomberesque or one of the others instead :)

As a thought, maybe 5punk should become an affiliate and post the link here with all the business they push CCP's way anyway? Naturally the money would be used for the hosting? (and not beer) :)

We don't seem to be that big on referals here, no-one's ever really talked about it, but it's kind of an unwritten rule.

5punk and bukakke have donation buttons, and people sometime post good offers for ISPs and such, but the whole "refer X number of people to get a discount" doesn't seem to happen. Perhaps we're all a bit averse to the pyramid-type connotations to it, particularly since it feels a bit like scamming your mates.

If people need money/in-game money to continue playing a game that badly, there are other avenues, and some very generous members to help out. Our focus is more how many of us we can get playing together, rather than how much trade we're sending a particular game-maker's way. That way, we don't owe them anything.

Understood Fatherjack (great series btw, once my whole network was named after characters in Father Ted , my server was MrsDoyle and she served files, not tea :) - you want another file? no? Oh gowan... The VoIP server was FatherStone - if you get that then you deserve your nick :P ) .

It was just a thought and my excuse is that I'm new here :pie: :ninja:
