THEY ALL SUCK

EDIT: The benchmarks are out, and the HD2600's SUCK. HARD. I'd be really pissed off if I had been waiting to buy one of them.
I guess my best option is to save up for one of those 320MB 8800GTs's.

Shame they'll be shite
Edit:
Problem here (IMO) is that they've pretty much shunned the high end market.
While us high end cunts aren't great for direct profit, we're usually very good at influencing the purchases in the mid/low end, Which ATI aren't gonna get if they sell no high end cards.
Also, given the R2900 is shite, it doesn't bode well for the lower cards, If they suck, it'll result in upgrades. (to nvidia, due to high end cunts guiding people in the right direction)

You want a good card from ATi? go spend fuck all on a 1950xtx. Because these dx10 ATi ones look good with the flames an all, but the kind of gamer clamouring for dx10 is the one who wants crysis and ut3 and caek wars, and to play them, you want the best, an nvidia 8800 card, even if its not a full-blown-cunts-card, just the gts semi-cunts card, its the card for high end gamers, ATi have fucked up by ignoring the top end of the market.

Yeah, I agree with you with pretty much all of that. That DAAMIT has just given up on the top of the line is not a good sign at all.
Still, I'm not going to dismiss it out of hand until I see some benchmarks so I can decide for myself how shit they are.
And pete, did you not get the part about being a cheap bastard? If I could afford an 8800 I probably would have bought one by now, but ~$300 is more than I can spend for a GPU at this moment. I'm waiting for either:
A) enough money for a 8800GTS or
B) a winner between 8600GTS or HD2600XT
I'm fine with slow framerates, I've been living with it for years and waiting a bit longer won't hurt much.

While I'm not going to change my view here, the benchmarks that are coming out for the 2600XT are indicating a turd of epic scale. not only is it slower than the 8600GTS, it's no faster than my X1600 Pro. This is pretty mind-boggling how ATI can be 7 months late and not have
any tangible performance improvement at all. The only possible reason to get one at this point is for the audio over HDMI-out for like a media center PC or something.

300 dollars! Wish a gtx was that cheap here, thats what 200-250 pounds? payed closer to 350 for it. I could have spent a lot less on a gts cos there only 180ish from ebuyer. But I blew a big chunk of my savings to buy the best I could, in the hope that the card would still be running stuff in 2+ years time. Hmm, make good money by sending KV loads of cheeseburgers, that when he signs for them he accepts the costs, that'll buy you a gtx, nay an ultra in no time at all.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! Thats fucking ridiculous, a gtx is less than 150 quid? for fucks sake, europe is teh suck, everything costs fuckloads more, and americans get cheap stuff, like fuel, I saw on nbc some bloke complaining that filling up his hummer would cost over 40 dollars, here, filling up one of them would cost over 200 quid, for fucks sake. You shouldnt have told me that, thats fucking ridiculous, cunting price differences.
these do not convey my anger properly

No, a GTX is at least $530 (on NewEgg as of right now), which is just under £265.
It's not just down to taxes. The general regulatory environment in the US makes it cheaper to do business there; for example, the minimum wage isn't so ridiculously high. Then of course there's the exchange rate, which makes it very attractive for people in the UK to buy stuff from the US.

Just about to say that.
I got my semi-cupcake 8800GTS through eBay from 'Merkinland for about £150

lol @ pete, ever the expert at reading comprehension
The cheapest 8800GTS 320MB cards are ~$275 at newegg, the 640MB ones are about $100 more, and the 8800GTX guys are $530.
hahaha

Fix'd, and that's still cheaper than they are in the UK.
