Anybody know any decent voice programs for use when gaming?

I know Teamspeak is pretty popular, but that requires a server to be constantly running it, and I don't think any of them are free.

If anyone has any suggestions on this, it would be appreciated.

I use ventrilo - www.ventrilo.com - it has a pretty good net code, and doesnt cause any lag.

you can get servers from this place - http://www.4k-gaming.net/ventrilo.php pretty cheaply - only ?30 for a 20 space server for 6 months!!

im not sure about running a server on your own PC though!!!!

Is it free? If so I'll test it out, and we'll use it as 5punk's voice chat program :D

Its completley free! :)
and you can run your own little servers from your PC, quality is good (but can be adjusted for lower connections) and is over all quite kick ass:)
i second the suggestion that it be the offical talk App for 5punk.

I'm pretty sure TS2 can also use anyone's comp as a server, and has been integrated into more games (well.. PlanetSide). But yes, Roger Wilco does seem to work better.

Plus you can use both of them to talk to people who are still alive in round-based games and give 'tactical info' <ahem>...
