Those Phantom Hourglass controls, they sure are different. Different as in crazy. Crazy as in they had Shigeru Miyamoto up at all hours of the night, sweating buckets, worried sick.
Worried? Miyamoto? No, not really. Luckily, everything turned out OK!
When we decided to develop a Zelda title for the DS, we wanted it to be a fun game with the essence of the DS...[but] we were worried whether we could make a good Zelda game that used the stylus control scheme of the DS.
Phew. Glad that's all sorted then. Even if it is tough to imagine Miyamoto truly worried. The most I can picture is him sporting a slightly less toothy grin. Luke Plunkett
A message to the Zelda fans: I think the Zelda series has evolved throughout the years. This game is no exception. We've changed the gameplay mechanics and it makes the game fresh and fun.
