I heard it's good Hamachi flavoured hack'n'slash.

I love Diablo 2, but the setting and the 'It's like Diablo, but not' of this gives me the fear.

Anyone interested in Hamachi Flavoured fuckabouts?

I started to pick up the copy you pointed out to me on the floor, but I couldn't be arsed with the several millenia it would have taken for me to stand up again.

This I would be tempted with. £8 isn't much to have a kickabout with a game. Bit more than a cinema ticket. Unfortunately I'm on the cusp of moving house, so there's not much point as I probably won't have time for much gaming.

Having played it for a while now, I have drawn two conclusions. The first is that it is an enjoyable game, fairly reminiscent of Guild Wars, hacking and slashing etc.

The second conclusion is that it's a bug/glitch ridden piece of shit. When it's not randomly crashing my PC, forcing me to re-start everything, it loses all my character information causing me to start right from the very beginning. Reading the forums it would appear that an awfully large number of people are having the same problems. So, have they made a patch to fix it? Of course not, but they have released an expansion pack, the useless cunts.

The publisher, THQ, are also responsible for Supreme Commander. This is another game I (and many others, again having read the official forums) are having difficulty with as the patches aren't applying properly. I wonder if THQ are attempting to rival EA in sheer failness?

A rather ambitious target.

So, I've just gone for a couple hours of the game and I've gleaned this:
  • Static camera == FAIL
    Combat == Good, pretty fun
    Inventory == WAY TOO SMALL
    Overall == Good

Apparently RealTek soundcards may fuck the game up. If I remember correctly both Roman and Tezz have these, hence Tezz's frantic search for a new one. It does also have fista issues. Damned game.

As for the static camera, you get used to it. All of the maps and levels are build around the camera being at that angle and at that distance, and the whole thing looks better in the end, especially when you're made to peer over the edge of a cliff and see a whole mob of bad guys in the distance, it's quite good, that.

Inventory IS small. You get used to picking up yellow items only, and hitting the shiny portal button to cash in your loot.

Hmm I seem to be interested in this...

What kind of multiplayer gaming is it?, RPG style group hack n' slash?, do you have to play through the story together?, be the same level etc?

You make a character that can be ported back and forth from single and multiplayer, keep the same items, same skills, same levels and same place in the story, so it's quite flexible for multi and singleplaying.

Being at a lower level than the rest of the group isn't so bad, as the game balances out the levels of the monsters around according to the number of players in a party, and the experience sharing is rather decent. You do have to play through the story together, but it's mostly hack'n'slash with a smattering of storyline to keep you interested.

Cool, might give it a go, it's only £6.99 on play now!

Although Steam does have the advantage of being quicker... hmm
