Firstly, I found this website called
BookMooch which looks to be a very interesting way of getting new books to read.
This looks quite an interesting thing to do. I've signed up but I've not tried it yet.
It's also occurred to me that 5punkers probably have some good books to swap so perhaps we could do a mini-mooch through the forums?

That site's quite a good idea though, I've joined but I don't read that many books.

It's weird actually, I thought of the same idea as Bookmooch a couple of weeks ago. Except not with books, but with transformers (for bit's of electronic equipment, not the robots in disguise)
I don't know about you, I seem to have equipment without transformers as well as transformers without the relevant equipment. So if theres was a site where you could swap these bits of equipment (you list the ones you want to get rid of, polarity, voltage, ampage etc) and the ones you do need and then you have access to this big pool of transformers

I usually call them AC power adapters or something similar. I started just buying some like this instead:

Yeah, I suppose it's a better name. I guess I've always called them transformers in the same way I've always called an IEC mains lead a "kettle lead". It's a simple name that explains what it is to people that understand these things
Those multi-adapter AC/DC power supplies never seem to have the right V/A combination that I want. Maybe I should look harder at what Maplin have to offer though I guess.
Also it just seems a waste to through the orphaned transformers away (they contain a decent amount of copper usually too)
