warcraft 3 being teh gayers

i cant get this bloody game to install on my computer

when i put the disc in my dvd drive i get the warcraft III has encountered a problem and needs to close. etc

if i explore the cd and click the install.exe file i get an error report saying

This application has encountered a critical error

ERROR #131 (0x85100083)
program: E:\install.exe
file: E:\setup.mpq



press ok to terminate the application

now, put the cd in the cd drive in i get the install enter the cd key and it starts installing as normal, it get almost 3 quarters done then i get another error which says it cant find something from my temp files in the documents and settings

anyone got any ideas as to why i cant get this to install?

Sounds like the CD might be fuct. Maybe see if there's a copy lying around on the floor?

tried that and that doesnt worke either

also being able to install it a bit has stopped working

Are you using Fista?

Also, try copying the contents of the CD to a folder on your hard drive and installing from there.

I saw that before, but Warcraft 3 != Frozen Throne.

im not using fista and i tried the moving the contents to the desktop, and hell do i know what xp im on. anyway to check?

(diagnostic os details are "xp proffesional (5.1build 2600)" if thats any help)

Control Panel -> System Properties. Your XP version is in the General tab, under System.

edit: if you're using XP, then your operating system most likely isn't the issue (unless your install is screwed up in some way).

Could be some leftover crufty bits causing a problem, then?

I saw another suggestion on a random German forum - install it and patch it on another computer and then copy it over the LAN. Of course, this doesn't work if you don't have two computers and a network. ;)

I think it's a sign that you shouldn't play Warcraft 3.
