An anonymous reader writes to mention that Jack Thompson, in his latest bout of zealotry, has set his sights on Microsoft for their recent release of Halo 3. GameAlmighty has posted the letter to Bill Gates. "Here's the deal, Mr. Gates: Either Microsoft undertakes dramatic, real steps, through its marketing, wholesale, and retail operations to assure that Halo 3 is not sold, via the Internet and in stores, directly to anyone under 17, or I shall proceed to make sure that Microsoft is held to that standard by appropriate legal means. I have done that before successfully as to Best Buy, and I shall do so again as to Microsoft and all retailers of Halo 3."

It's funny really how close to many of the gamers he demonises Jack Thompson is. Every time I read about him now I think of a certain Shartak player.

Ah, Jack Thompson, my god, what a man.

Taking on a company which has near unlimited legal funds for a product they release when they arn't accountable for the actual point of sale to individuals.

Oh, how you make my day for pure stupidity.

Also, I've just noticed after reading it again; he sends his letter to Bill Gates who, if I remember correctly, is no longer CEO of Microsoft.

Next he'll send a letter to Father Christmas asking him not to leave copies of Halo 3 under the tree if the recipient is underage.

as far as jack thomson goes, i would ay a request for a game not to be sold to anyone under the recommended age is a pretty rasonable request. Just a sham he has directed it at completely the wrong people.

i do think that retailers should be mnore strict about sale of adult games to minors, only problem is, until you make the parents aware of the possible ontent of such games they will just go out and buy the games for the kids

Indeed, perhaps he should try Alan Turing.

How about they make TV adverts for 18 rated games really violent and sweary, then show them during Eastenders/Big Brother/etc. Someone will get the point.
