Skills and Ships

Ok i have recently finished some long skills and such and am trying to decide what to do next. The real question is what really is the best pvp battle ship. What is the best solo PVE ship and the list goes on. I'm not looking for everyone's ship setups. More looking for the general consensus of you must use this race ship for this as it is just plain the best. I am also going to post my skills for comments. Like if you just finished this off it would really help in this way.

"what is the best ship" is the original million dollar Q in EVE and I can't answer it. However, taking a (very) brief look at your skills I would comment the following;

You have Large Hybrid and Gallente BS both at lvl 5, so you should be flying either a Mega or Hyperion. Either are great for Pve or PvP, Hyp specialises in short range/Tank, especially for PvP and is ften talked down for PvE but I'm using one for that and have no problems with it. That said, these are gunboats.... You may have large Hybrid V but your gunnery skills are teh lose, honestly.... you have 2M SP TOTAL in Gunnery of which 1.2M is in Large Hybrid skill alone, meaning you track, shoot and range like a girl (a blind one). I suggest a trip to an empire hub, pick up all the gunnery support skill books that you don't have (Hehulk has a list of them somewhere in his excellent "stuff to learn if you want to kill people" post, linked in the useful links sticky, iirc) and get learning, you will make very fast progress as your learning skills are good and a lot of them will be Rank 1 and 2 skills I suggets you train all the R1 skills to 5, R2 to 4 and R>3 to 3 as a start. Then get Small, med and large Rail and blaster spec books (will cost a bit) and train them. Then you will be uber Gallente gunboat pilot.

/Edit; you also must complete weapon upgrades and get adv weapon upgr to 4. This will make all your ships a lot easier to fit, especially the gunboats

You may also want to work on your shield/ armour compensation skills a bit as well as they will really help with tanking

Right, then, suggestions:

Cap skills needs serous work. lv1 and 2? How on earth do you sustain weapon fire on a BS?
Drone skills look good and rounded, but you can't use T2 lights/mediums or ECM drones. Serously, fix that.
Electronics you can leave be, unless you want to skill for recons
Serously, needs more hull upgrades 5. You gallente live and die by your armour tanks, so why you've put all that skillage into shield gear, and not armor is beyond me :?
Support gunnery skills arn't bad, but they could be better. I'd get all those to lv4, then start looking at T2 large blasters. You've never seen something hit as hard as a hyperion fitted with T2 electron blaster cannons loaded with void. Those are the things that solo down a carriers tank (well, not jimmys, but then alot of carriers in eve arn't deadspace fitted)
Nice nav skills (MWD skill aside, that needs to be at 4), but if your training for a dread or a carrier, you've a long way to go with support skills mate.

For now, I'd say go fly a megathron. They're more agile, which means they're a tad more forgiving if you screw up, where as a hyp is as slow as bird shit, so if you get in over your head, forget about getting out.

Rabbit or Bomber are your best bets for talking to about blaster ships in PVP though, what I know is purely theoritical (I know a bit about cruiser blasters, but even then bomber and rabbit know more)

Eh? They've got the same mass and agility modifier hulky, the hype happens to be 5ms faster at base to boot as well.

The difference could be down to the multiple plate setup on the hype if you run one.

However, I would also recommend working on support skills for Gallente ships, it's where your skills lie.

Need to get the cap and gunnery skills up asap.

Also, Megathron = Cheaper, you can t2 fit a thron for the cost of a hype. Which is good. It's also a great gank boat in gangs with Neutrons + Void.

Fuck me, so they do. I'm sure I remeber the hyp being a fair bit heavier...

Still, megathons the better choice for getting use to blaster BS I think, if only for price.

Blasterthron ftw. I'm still not happy with the hyp, you can either go dual reps with ions which is hard to sustain or single rep with neutrons which isn't as good dps as the megathron.

I'd reccommend training towards a T2 blasterthron, but you're going to need almost every skill related to flying it at lvl 4 or 5. The megathron isn't very forgiving of low skills, you need your armour tank skills maxed to make the most of what little tank you have and you need all gunnery and drone support skills to at least lvl 4 to maximise DPS which is the megathrons strong point. You'll also need your cap skills to at least 4 to help sustain everything and your navigation skills to at least 4 to get in range as fast as possible.

This megathron setup is pwnage and gives you a good idea of what to aim for:

7x Neutron Blaster Cannon IIs with null/void

Quad Lif Mwd, faint 20km scram, fleeting web, heavy cap booster II

Large rep II, DC II, 2x EANM II, 3x Mag stab II

Ancillary current router, Algid hybrid administration unit, anti-explosive pump

4x ogre IIs, 5x hobgoblin IIs.

You'll also need a 3% hybrid turret cpu reduction implant.

Find me a megathron set-up that isn't guilty of this :above: :above:

At the time, a sensor damper ship made sence, but with how prolific they are these days in pvp (I'm getting really tired of RK damping my ass to hell and back now, just makes me want to kill em more) it would have been too much of an Iwin button. Hyperion tanks like stink, does awesome damage (same damage bonii, 1 more turret point) and with the extra mid tracks fine.

All the pilots I know who use to fly blasterthrons in PVP are prasing CCP for the hyperion so I don't see why you still see fit to draw issue with it.

EDIT: If your drawing your experience of the thing from Sisi, that's a special case, since you often end up starting a 1v1 on there, and then having alot more pile in mid fight. Roaming about TQ is completly different since baring gank traps (which narf are easy as stink to spot. Cruiser engaging a BS? I wonder why...) reserves arn't 30 sconds away.

If I scheduled a 5punkfleet outing in bs's next week sometime, would anyone come? No I mean, really? Who actually has an issue with losing a corp provided bs in PvP?

Would this be a set battle (gate camp) type flotilla, or a roaming squad. I can setup a Sniper BS no problem, but a close ranged thing would be a bit tricky with my skills

I have the one, and am guarding it jealously until I can afford to replace it. That said, I would at least come and cov-ops scout for you, which is wierd, because I can't afford to replace the cov-ops either (well, at least the BS makes me isk)

Short answer is I'd be there next week. Bubble is away so play tiem am go for me. :thrust:

You know my missile spamming predicament, but if you give me an hours warning I can go buy a BS of some type and I'll come play. The only BS I have at the moment is my rigged best named uber pimped mission raven.

Fear/Bomber: please read the sticky at the top of this forum! Let me reiterate:

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PVP BATTLESHIP AND CAN'T AFFORD ONE, THE CORP WILL BUILD YOU ONE FOR FREE

Do you guys need a PvP battleship?

well, yeah, but you already built me a BS so I'm embarrassed to ask for another.

Still, if you had a domi knocking around I could free up the Hyp for PvP and commit the Domi to Missions, which is my plan once I get the isk flowing in...

Fact is, my rebuild post war is very slow because I'm not on much. No-one's fault but my own and this inconvenient thing the call RL. Plus whenever I have 60M I go and blow it on something shiney (like the new cov-ops....)

Heh, fair point Bomber, since the insurance payout is kinda supposed to help you get another bs :P But I'll stick a domi on for you too.

Fear: I spam le missiles too. Since should mostly be working close range it doesn't matter so much. See if you can get on SiSi tonight with us and experiment a little.

Arses. OK, got the mins and bpc's in Elgoi Moon 1 Eifyr ready to cook, but Mano's all out of build slots and so is Silver. Can someone with 2 free slots and perfect build run up and poke her sometime today please?

Domi for Bomber and Dres
Pest for Jaeger

Anyone else?

btw, if this mining plan works out, we'll be able to get everyone bs's all the time for free, not just the first one :w00t:

Thanks for the offer Friz, but I'm ok for ISK at the moment. It's just a case of buying one, and then getting it to wherever we need it.

Edit: Also I don't have ship building skills, sorry. :(

swap out a domi and put a geddeon in instead and someone can have my domi, i haven't flown it in over 3 months and probably won't for another. its near tash-murkon prime have to let you know tonight when i log on. the geddeon will only be used for ratting and pvp in the 0.0 we're terrorizing for the day. i got plenty of isk to buy one if need be. either way just let me know

also can someone give kenny station manager roles on sisi for 5punk tower (friz)

as long as its not pos warfare and in 0.0 (so no security hit) i'll come play with dp - missions are getting stagnant for me need to change it up again (unless my dick nazi agent would give me my cnr but thats for another thread)
