This came round work, thought some of you miscreants may find it useful

The Wii is sold out across the country and has been scarce since
November, but if you:


* visit www.amazon.de (Amazon's German site)

* search for the Nintendo Wii

* proceed with the order by clicking the yellow button "In Den
Einkaufswagen" which will put a Wii console in your basket

* then click "Zur Kassen Gehen"

* you can then log in with your Amazon.co.uk email address and
password so all your details will already be there.


Once the Wii arrives, it has English instructions, it is a PAL machine
(like the UK), and just set the Wii console into the English language.
You don't have to pay any duty as it comes from the EU.

All you will need to buy is a plug adaptor to convert the 2-pin German
plug to the UK’s 3-pin plug.

This method is also cheaper than buying in the UK as it will set you
back 249.95 Euros, which is approx £170… Groovy!

What about the rechargable batteries, any difference in them being from Germany (I doubt it, but you never know)

Also, why does mine have a blue glow coming from the disk slot? It's only been doing it since this morning, but it's worrying me in a Maximum Overdrive sort of way...

Means you've got a new message, either an update notification or a new friend or Mii.

Mine didn't have rechargable batteries, just normal AA ones, two per mote.

Mine didn't have any batteries at all. Luckily I borrowed some from work. I'll return them once I've finished with them.

Mine doesn't glow at all anymore, I turned it off as I don't like glowy things. At least I hope I turned it off and it's not broken.

Not the best or cheapest battery but a good solution.

Ooh, they're pretty snazzy. I might invest in some of those once my supply is exhausted (ie, after I've been paid again).

Unfortunately you can't charge both at the same time in the back of the Wii as they wont fit, but I'm sure you have other USB ports spare.

I found mine to be a bit of a glutton on the batteries, and recharables don't last too long after they've been through a few cycles.

Not as bad as my digital camera which pretty much requires the blue lithium ones, I've found the copper-topped ones to be the best compromise, but carry a pack with me wherever the Wii goes. Taking one out when not in use rather increases their longevity as it's easy to "wake them up" with buttons all over them.

under the advice from a friend who knows his batteries and I love them, my AA battery requirements are now Fixed.

They seem to last forever in just about any appliance, including Xbox 360 and Wii controllers and if they do run out they I can recharge 4 in one hour. (In fact a 5 min charge will last you a 3 hour playing session during which time another 4 will have fully charged anyway) As a bonus this charger also recharged my existing crappy 800mAh NiCd batteries a whole load better than my old charger too.

I just got 10x 2700mahs from strikalite for less than £15

I bought quite a while ago when the prices weren't so different between suppliers.

However I was surprised and so I spoke to Budget Batteries today (we get all our batteries from them business-wise) they said that the brand you mentioned "weren't as good" as the GP brand ones but they openly admit that they are nevertheless "overpriced on this range and they are looking to adjust the prices of all their rechargeable batteries in the coming weeks".. (not that they could deny it!)

Dunno, just thought I'd stick up for them, they've always treated us very well and I highly recommend them (and no I don't have stocks in them or anything )

I just managed to reserve one in an Argos store in Bristol for £179.99, along with Wii Play (& free controller) for £34.99, plus I then saved £10 for buying them together, so all in all it's cost me £204.98, and I get to pick it up and pay for it at my own convenience tomorrow

In order to do it, keep ticking 2 stores within your postcode area (I had about 10 to choose from) to check for more stock when it comes back saying there are no items in stock.

I tried the Amazon thing, got as far as logging in, then had the fear and cancelled. Good job I did in the end!
