Do you like Anime?

If so which series do you watch?

Are there any anime films you can recomend?

I've never really been a fan so I'm not sure what qualifies as anime, but I quite liked Vampire Hunter D and - if it counts - Cowboy Bebop.

i used to watch hellsing on winamp tv

and have akira and ghost in the shell lurking on my hdd somwhere, never watched akira though

I can reccomend you do NOT watch "Ghost in the Shell" Really.
My friend and I watched it recently.. Lots of talking.. And.. Uh.. The wierdest ending to any anime film I've ever seen.. Ever.

As for reccomendations, get the Cowboy Bebop movie. It's got violence, guns, evil genious gothmen, spaceships which double as boats, bio terrorism, faye (token sexobject) and Edward (Token hyperactive child.. Girl.. Thing.)

Also you might wanna get:
Metropolis (Not to be mixed up with the early 20th century make, get the anime.. Really..) Which is loosely based artwise on Astroboy, same style. Good film, if a little revolved around kids (I still liked it, though.)

Also Spirited away, it's a good movie.

i've not seen the GiTS movies, but the serieses amused me.

It is my professional opinion that anime is crap. I watched Akira, and it was crap. None of it made any sense. At all.

or... akira was crap.

As with all this stuff, never watch Anime dubbed!

Stuff I really liked:

Spirited Away, Akira, Ninja Scroll (the best ever way to possess someone is in this film), Ghost in the Shell franchise, Gundam Wing, Metropolis (slightly spoiled by the creator having a robot destruction fetish - FACT) and the pure quality of Street Fighter II.

I loved Ninja Scroll the movie (*slides in fingers*), and I also enjoyed Ninja Scroll the TV series.

Loved the animation in Ghost In A Shell, but the story was just weird.

I might start watching Naruto as I keep hearing good things about it.

Tend to like Anime's with really nice animation, and martial arts based fighting.
Gonna jump on DC++ tonight and get some of the big anime films.

Not only is your grasp of the english language atrocious, You've made a poorly thought out statement based on some strange ideas you have about a subject you clearly do not understand in the slightest.

I assume you're trying to insult the viewers of Anime, suggesting they're socially inept in some way and have nothing better to do with thier penises.

Your level of ignorance astounds me. If you'd taken even the slightest bit of interest in the the social fabric of Japan, you'd have found that their acceptance of animation and comics comes from traditional Buddhist ways of expressing stories.

Often these anime often carry deeper undertones that are almost like modern day parables and are wholesome and not as superficial as western cartoons.

Themes that run through anime often cover deep topics such as the existance of god, how we are defined as humans with a sense of self, the exploration of Shinto and other religions, sexuality and gender identity, world politics, shame and duty, and a more complex exploration of the emotions that humans can have.

Oh, and if you're having trouble watching any anime due to subtitling, you might like to know that they do also come in dubbed flavour.

I loved Spirited Away and Princess Mononononke (possible spelling mistake there ). The stories were great and the characters well rounded.

Ghost in the Shell and Akira are different matters though. I bought them both at the same time as I'd heard lots of people raving on about how great they were. Wrong. Just plain wrong. They are overly long, dull and make no sense whatsoever.

I do admit that Akira is certainly an aquired taste - and the voice acting in the dubbed version is dreadful. Ghost in the Shell is very much a two-tier thing and unless you like both sides of the film (the action and the philosophical discussion), you're probably not going to get much out of it.

i did watch ghost in teh shell, i actuallt quite liked it

and ninja scroll (forget about that one) was awsome

Thankfully, I'm in the process of squiring all six of the £20 graphic novels (Manga type things.. Urr..). I've just finished novel three, Tetsuo descends onto a huge chunk of stone and takes akira away.. Please PLEASE do not tell me any of the story - I'm determined to read it the way it was meant to eb read, before watching a dubbed movie.

I remember reading the Manga when I was ten or so - it was good. And I know there's a subbed version of Akira around somewhere...

i watched Hellsing last night (all 13 eps)

really, really enjoyed it, great fun :D
