I just gave this a quick try and I think it's true. My fps is up by about 5-10 frames I think and I can now turn on anti-aliasing without a significant speed drop. Also I noticed a bit of extra bump-mapping on a rock.

I recommend you test it.

The bump mapping quality is improved quite a bit, no idea if my frame rate has increased, I didn't check before the mod.
