Right
I have enough money for EITHER A mini ipod (6 gig) zen micro (5gig) or a zen touch (20gig)
Dabs are doing a deal on the touch at the moment, so I can currently afford it!
My obvious instinct is the touch, but does anybody have any constructive comments about the others? e.e annoying things, cool things etc
cheers :D

I'm pretty sure the Zen Touch has a better battery life than the other 2. In anycase, I think the extra 14GB is a deal breaker.

Up until xmas I was a Mac-o-phile, no PC at all, and of course I bought an iPod. It's a 10GB 2nd generation so it's a few years old now but still works fine, apart from the battery charge which doesn't last as long as it did, it gets through a normal days commute though. Being an Apple product the design and useability are second to none, that's viritually a FACT, but you get less features for your money.
The iTunes software is also very nice and very easy to use.
EDIT: I can't be held responsible for my actions if anyone disses Apple.

yes I am using itunes at the moment and i'm loving it! (bada bap bap baa)
I've got a few songs that I have downloaded so I'd have to burn them to cds and then rip back to mp3 to avoid the copy protection disalowing me to convert

I've never bought from the Apple Store myself, I generally steal what I want or buy CDs and rip them, mainly because of the protection crap. I didn't realise how easy it was to get around it though, obvious when you think about it.

I hate iTunes, because then you're basically owned by Steve Jobs.

why bother with the micro? the street price on the Zen Touch isn't much higher...
my main beef with creative's MP3 players is that you need their dumbfuck software to load music onto them. which sucks. hard. and long.

Isn't the iPod's battery unreplaceable? So if that goes out, you're basically stuck with a very expensive paperweight?
yes

Ah, no, you're actually stuck with very expensive APPLE BRANDED paperweight. Which is worse, cause you've been branded. Ah well =D
You don't need to use the creative software with teh mp3 player, I can simply open the drive in explorer and copy and paste stuff into there, no fuss.

 Anger rising ... rage taking over ...
No wait, no one has dissed Apple as such, just ipod and itunes [numb to it] ...
Rage subsiding ... pulse slowing ...
Anyway, the iPod battery thing is blown out of proportion. The number of people affected was small and apple will now replace your battery, for a price, or you can buy and install one yourself. If you fancy pulling it apart, there's instructions out there somewhere.
EDIT: but if you want to be the l33t h4x0r you'd better get a nexus nomad or whatever

*IS ABOUT TO "DISS" APPLE"

would you like apple to give each and every battery they buy, say 100 full charging cycles, just to be sure they're ok?

Im getting at the fact that you have to pay for them to fix their product.

Only if it's out of the years warrenty and I would guess that would be the case for all iPod type MP3 players.
