I feel the need for some strategic goodness. Ive not played a decent one for a while (Battle for Middle Earth was ok, but not stunningly original). Any suggestions?

Worth a demo-download are the following
Act of war (Righteous american anti-terrorism with a splash of futuristic technologies, Eg. Marines in miniature Japanese mecha's)
Rise of Nations (6000 Years of history, quite strategic, though sometimes a little too large-scale so it can get confusing. Very clever resource collecting, and has introduced a LOT of interesting features)
Age of Mythology (Greek, Egyptian, Norse mythologies in the style of AOE, with godpowers and lots of nifty myth units.)
Those are the only three I can think you might want to test out off-hand.

I'll try Act of War though.

I wasnt too impressed with C&C generals. There was no real story to speak of, and the sides were not brilliantly balenced. Quite fun, but not the best.
I might just re-play Frozen Throne.
