Anyone here play Sims 2? Got a spare machine to give someone who plays pretty much only that, but it has no 3D card - would a £30 7300 be adequate? Machine is 3GHz 775, PCI-e.

so be honest, you could stick a 5200 in there and it'd probably work - the sims games sell well because they'll run on anything.

not strictly true, mr berk. The old sims did, Sims 2 is a wee bit more graphically intensive. I used to run it on my old machine ok, it had a 9800pro in. Well, I say ok: if there were more than three people in the house at once it started to complain, and the load times were worse than Beef2.

I played it a bit when it came out, and my machine at the time struggled, but I can't recall if it was with my current 6600 or the 4-series card I had before. The link berk posted hints that the onboard Intel card will do, but I'm a little skeptical about that.

:above:

Although you can twiddle with it a fair bit, it can be a real system hog at times.

Actually, despite it essentially being an electronic dolls house, you can have some rather sill fun with it. For instance:

Buildings shaped like cocks, complete with spunking fountain.
families consisting of three women, all of which are getting lesbonic with each other, and then beating each other up for cheating.
Pregnant men.
Silly ways to die (he stepped in one to many bits of rubbish and was eaten by flies. He tried to catch a sattelite with his face).
