40k: Lost Patrol: Death in the jungle
Posted: September 10th, 2016, 18:06
So, GW recently re-released Lost Patrol.
It's a bunch of Scouts vs Genestealers, in a two player ~15-30 minute game. Couple of people at work have it and really like it, and it's currently in the post to me. Fairly simple ruleset but it's of the Dwarf Fortress/FTL version of FUN as it's bastard hard and the marines lose a lot.
Scout squad is made up of a Sarge, a heavy weapon specialist and three normal scouts. Genestealers are stealin' genes. Marines have to make it through a hidden jungle to find the drop pod and then escape with. Genestealer player is responsible for the jungle with a fog of war mechanic
Better explaination found here.
Rab did a post about it on RPS and liked it
I'll spend a bit of time painting them over the winter, but hopefully I'll get a couple of games going soon with the office folk, either on boardgame night or our Autumn LAN.
Alternative rules for Terminators were posted in this month's White Dwarf, so they could be interesting as well.
Edit: As a bonus, the author of the original year 2000 version has posted some sniper rules on his site, he's not involved with the new version though.
