Presenting nominations for the 5punk Single Player game of 2015. This is straight up the best game you've played on your own. On the computer. Or console, if you like. And I don't mean that one with the pepper grinder when you're watching internet porn. Proper games. Voting closes in a week.

I voted Alien, although the closest analogy I can think of to playing it was "hate fucking". There were moments when I was sure it was trying to actually kill me, and I think it has pushed me to rage quit more than anything else I have ever played, but I kept coming back for more.

What Joose said. By the end I hated it and raged so much at it but it is an utterly perfect as an Alien game and as brutally tough as I feel it should be. I've genuinely never found a game so stressful in my whole life. A masterpiece.

I really want to like Isolation, but I can't get past a bit where a couple of guys shoot at me. I've not even faced the alien yet (although I've seen it).

My favourite game that's not Fallout 4 was Life is Strange, GTA V I'd kinda been and done on the PlayBox360, Life is Strange was a change of pace, a surprise out of the blue, episodic content that spanned most of the year yet unlike so many actually all came out, not always glitch-free but always engaging and made me care more than I lke to admit. Actually even Fallout 4 was kind a flurry at the end of the year, while Life Is Strange nicely bracketed the whole year.

Odd that Fallout 4 wasn't nominated. Joose mentioned it in his Big List 'o' Games, but opted for Cities Skylines. Incidentally, when putting in nominees I used a single one where it was clear, and all mentioned if Joose didn't make it clear which one was the single one. I can add Fallout 4 if anyone wants to vote for it.

It kind of seemed too obvious to mention at the time of nominations, but now that everyone's played the shit out of it for a month or two they seem to have moved on.

The total hours across all 5punkers played in the last two weeks are less than that of almost any single player in the first two.

Other games on the list probaly deserve the "of the year" title more, plus there will no doubt be a GOTY version with all the DLC which might extend the playtime and justifiably feature in next year's list.

:D

I dont actually think FO4 is game of the year nomination worthy, thinking about it. It was fucking great for a bit, then the story suddenly swung into crushing disappointment territory. Still left the game overall as well above average, but not nearly as good as some of the other nominations.

I agree. Whilst enjoyable it does nothing to improve on the previous installments (and in fact I think they've taken a step backwards in terms of the dialogue options). Even during the height of me playing it I never thought it was worthy of being GOTY.
