So, i usually play LOL as my MOBA of choice however i have DOTA 2 and notice you guys play so thought i would give it a go.

I happily played through the tutorials however i randomly get an issue when i get disconnected from game and kicked back to the big map with the error Steam is not online or some such drivel.

Any thoughts, i have breifly googled it but as usual, trying to wade through the trolls from the legit responses is time consuming. Pete suggested i try here for more assistance.

That sounds vaguely familiar. I'm sure someone here had that. Have you tried verifying your game cache? May or may not work, but can't do any harm and cures a multitudes of ills with Steam.

how do i do that?

Right click on the game in your library
Select Properties
Click on the Local Files tab
Click on 'Verify the integrity of your game cache'

It may well try to download a lot of the game again though, whether there was anything wrong or not.
