nVidia Crashing

I had this on my old 285, and since upgrading to a 670 it's started happening again. Every now and then, seemingly at random the graphics card stops responding - screen freeze for anything from 3 to 10 second, followed by blackscreen for up to 30s. It happens on a number of different games, so it's not what I'm playing. There's a bajillion posts about other people having similar problems so I'm disinclined to blame hardware, unless nvidia quality control is terrible. I've updated drivers 3 times and going to try once more, but then going to fuck nvidia up the arse forever more and buy crayons to draw the pictures.

Anyone else any experience/solutions/ideas?

Update drivers for everything, I'd guess it's motherboard related, flash your bios, maybe reset to defaults too.

And do memtest, there's not a lot of reason, but fucked Ram shows up in all kinds of odd ways.

Odd, mine was doing something similar; screen freeze for a couple of seconds, then black for a couple of seconds, then came back reporting that the graphics drivers had a wobbly then were fixed. Happened half a dozen or so times tonight then I got a BSOD. After the reboot it's been fine, I was assuming heat (so hosed it with an air can).

Does it have an LED on the back? I had this with my 280, the normally-green LED would turn orange or red at the times it blacked out. My power supply was on the way out, but I ended up replacing the card as well as I was due an upgrade.

Slightly odd question but... do you have an SSD installed?

Negative to both of the above. I'm inclined to think it was a driver issue - that there are several hundreds of other people complaining of similar issues means it's unlikely to be entirely due to something unrelated to the card.

I installed the latest drivers today (4th set since it started happening) and so far (fingers crossed) have had no re occurrence.

The obvious question is thus:

Have you tried jam?

Tried 5punk. Could be why the fan is jamming up.

Thought I'd mention that since updating the latest drivers this issue has finally stopped reoccurring. Apparently it's taked nVidia about 2 years and half a dozen updates to even admit it was a problem and then finally fix it.
