Anyone else think they're starting to take the piss now?

I remember when 2 blades was somewhat fancy, and did the job perfectly.

Right now I own a thing with 6 blades, a built in vibrator and some fucking lube that washes off after the first shave.

I wouldn't mind, but I swear with every fucking new iteration of this crap, the shave gets worse, the blades more expensive and less resilient.

I don't shave. Seems to work out okay.

unfortunately, if I don't shave I look like a neckbearded sex pest.

Admittedly, that's pretty much the case, but y'know.

Possibly making an investment in a straight edge? They give an awesome shave and whilst not cheap they will outlast buying mach bajillion vibrosword edged super save replacement razors.

Plus lets be honest here, they look fucking awesome.

The prices for the blades for these things just got so obscene that some 12 months ago I switched to double edged (DE) shaving. These are the old school safety razors, like what yer grandpa used.

Merkur 38C Razor - £36

Feather Lethal-as-Fuck Blades x10 - £4

Clinique Lovely Posh Shaving Gel - £14

Initial outlay is much higher but I'm still using that lot without having had to shell out a penny more. They also are much easier to drag through a few days growth if, like me, you don't shave every day.

I generally use double edge razors too - the stupid bollocks multi-blade angled crap never gives a decent shave.

In fact, more often than not these days I use an electric because it's quicker. Despite what shaving snobs tell you, if you get a decent one they shave just as well as an old fashioned razor (and in my opinion better then the aforementioned Swiss army razors).

Electric shavers absolutely ruin my skin and I find I have to keep going over the same spot to make sure I don't look like I shaved in the dark (the former probably a result of the latter). I've been wet shaving for so long now that I doubt a 'leccy would make much difference, time-wise. I do agree that they are much improved since Victor Kiam's day, mind.

I recently gave up on my Gillette fusion when the refill pack was the best part of twenty quid.
I splashed out £1.80 on a tesco 3x triple blade razor instead. Blades are cheap as chips also.

I find the shave not quite as good as a fusion, but perfectly acceptable. Even if I change the blade three times as much it's far cheaper (not that you need to really)

I used a Mach 3 for years and not had any complaints, apart from cost, but I only shave once or twice a week and they seem to last ages so not too bad.

Had a free trial thing of a Wilkinson sword protector, was bad, just didn't seem to do anything.

Some time ago I saw a cheap offer on a Gillete fusion so though it must be better than a Mach 3 and gave it a go, holy fuck it was awful, I must not be able to use it properly but it caused pain and injury.

Back to standard Mach 3, seems to work the best for me.

Might try the super cheap throwaway ones as a comparison though.

The BIC throwaway ones are the only decent ones I could recommend, cheap too, normally about £79 for a decent sized bag. I've used others e.g. supermarket own; but it was like cutting my face with a chainshaw.

I used gilette disposable ones the other day as it was my only choice in a ruddy chemist, but at two pound a pop for 5, they can get to fuckery.

Tried shaving, didn't like it.

Agreed, I've used mine since the day I joined up (19th Aug 2000) and it's always done a decent job. Mind you, my face has all the sensitivity of 4chan, and as a result I only change my blade every few months despite shaving four times a week (I have fridays and the weekend off).

Anyway, I have no hair since I'm only 11. But one when I do start shaving I suspect I will stick to electronic shavers only cos blades could ruin my complexion.

There's nobody to groom here Friz. Well, unless you're talking about male grooming.
