Maybe. I don't know who on here finished but I do recall that during the final mission
Spoiler:
a large part of a dialogue went over how the aliens were trying but failing to find a species that could both be strong physically as well as psychically, that all the species you've fought were failures along that road and that this was a test for humanity
, so it could be related to that.

On the flip side, turns out it's actually a PC exclusive (with Mac and Linux ports as well!). That's suprising. I know it sold well on PC and got great reviews, but it must not have done well on console at all for them to not bother with that a port.

That does surprise me, I thought it had done reasonably well on the consoles, and I know at least a couple of people who prefer playing it with a controller to mouse and keyboard.

Whatever the story explanation is, I am excite!

Dubious subject matter aside, I've not heard good things. I don't know how much influence the media outrage had on that, but 'mediocre and bug-ridden' was what I took from reviews. I watched the ending on youtube and it was awful. Not in a good way, in a 'early 2000s CD ROM cutscene' way.

Oh, I hadn't noticed 'worth a buy' was the name of their channel. What was the answer?

Surprisingly, their answer was "yes". Going from what they show in their video, my response to their answer is "bullshit".

Oh, going back to Xcom for a second: Apparently they are resolving the storyline issues with this being a sequel by essentially making it a sequel to one of the playthroughs of the first game where you lost and the aliens won. Quite a neat solution I thought.

I've never managed to finish a whole game but it's safe to say that's probably one of my playthroughs.

"The Aliens Won While You Were AFK."

That's actually incredibly realistic.

Dishonoured 2

First one was a great game, so hopefully this one will deliver good things too. I really must get around to replaying the first - went through it once as a sneaky sneaky type, but recently saw an all brutal assault play style clip:

Dishonored was indeed a great game, I too tried stealth at first but quickly gave up and feuled the stab-happy maniac I know resides in me. I also really liked the whale-oil punk world they created.

I like the look of that. I like that you seem to get to play as Emily, who seems to be a bit messed up after the goings-on in her childhood.

Which is entirely my fault:

Looks like someone's been wanting to make a Chiv: Dadliest Warrior game of their own.

Buuuuut.. It's totally consolised. Third-person combat only. Your tactical decision extends to "left, right or top" attack. Oof. Give that one a miss then.

Shame, the cinematic trailer had so much promise!

Let's see. A new Rollecoaster Sim game has been teased, no gameplay as far as I'm aware, but if the trailer's indicative of game style then it's looking nice.

Guild Wars 2 expansion, Heart of Thorns. Certainly looks like an MMO expansion.

They forgot to take away one of the most important things about chiv; it's not a serious game.

To be fair, I think it was *supposed* to be serious.

Depends on how you define serious. Torn banner has always embraced the sillier aspect of their game but did mean to give it a somewhat gritty look at the start. Now it's all screaming, peasant kicking and chopping limbs off. To me that's setting the tone to "fun" rather than serious.
