Hurrah! A game I actually enjoyed is going F2P.

Looks like there has been a lot of new content since I last played, so for an outlay of no money I shall be giving it a go. The word is that as a returning player you will be able to do everything you used to be able to, you just would have to pay for certain bits of the new stuff, like some of the new powers. I can live with that. If its true.

Anyone else fancy running about in their underpants?

Can you use old premium-account characters, or is it "start from scratch" like Champs?

I noticed this on RPS and PCG. I must admit the idea of shitting in bins and bringing out Fuzzy Hannah again appealed. A repeat faaabulous pride March or Spartacus flashmob could be awesome.

You can use old chars, you get 4 global character slots you can unlock on servers, which you have to use to either unlock an existing char or open up a new slot.

Yeah, this confused me for a bit. You get global slots which you can use to unlock either old characters or empty character slots, and you also get one additional slot per server for free.

I got 5 global slots, im not sure why. Might be because I bought an additional slot way back when.

i noticed this too, it looks like the f2p model could have actually been done pretty well this time aswell but ive not tried it yet

Can someone (I'd guess the leader?) pay the supergroup rent? or is that a premium thing now?

Has anyone fucked around with this and found out how stuff works?

I have a bunch of characters, including Kitty Kong, Squirtacus and Sausage Ryder (all Heroes) on Freedom, but some okay chars on other servers, such as Guardian and Champion. How does the server/global unlocking thing work? Do you get four unlocks total, four per-server, or four per-server plus four global? Do characters unlocked "globally" have to stay where they are?

All my villians seem to be Controllers, though - which is apparently a premium unlock - unless all villians are premium. I know a had a healer somewhere, but can't seem to find her.

I'll have a look at unlocks today, but I'm pretty sure it's 1 for free on each server, plus your globals which you can spend wherever. For example, you could unlock one slot on every server, then a couple of additional ones on freedom, and a couple on guardian, for a total of three on both.

As for characters, I bought a bunch of stuff way back when we were playing, and so far I've found that nothing I used to have is locked other than character slots. I've not played about a whole lot though.

It's also worth noting that they have a three tier system. Free players don't get shit, really, but if you are a returning player or spend any amount of money on the store you turn into a premium player, with access to a bunch of stuff. Or you can pay a sub, and become a VIP player, with access to pretty much everything, and a monthly income of free points to spend on the stuff that isn't just included.

I imagine this means most of us would be premium players.

EDIT: looks like I was talking balls with the server slots. The Global slots are the total amount of slots you have to play with across all servers. On the other hand, I've just played as a villain, so they are not locked.

I entered the game pretty late in the show so none of my characters are worth reviving. I will be starting again from scratch, can't really remember how to play so probably a good thing

My chars aren't much to shout about, never got that far in. Still can't find that elusive healer character, although my memory's probably making her better than she was - only used her on a couple of sidekicked outings and berk jested she was better than Sherriff's fully-levelled-up healer, but that was mostly because I just spam-healed berk constantly. Though that's a decent enough strategy most of the time.

Squirtacus and Sausage Ryder are both Heroes, so I guess that's where we got our lols - don't really know what to do with the other two slots - as I said all my Villans were Controllers (which is locked) as that seemed to me to be the only correct choice for a criminal mastermind.

Are you guys going Hero or Villan for the most part? Freedom server or one of the others?

I've got a bunch of both, so I'm fine with either.

Hurrumpff. "Freemium" players have to buy a licence to use the invention system in the new game model. This means all the nice, uber enhancements I worked to get, although still slotted, don't work. Guess that's my characters useless unless I spend money to get a licence. Bit shit

Well, I have rerolled a fresh character, decided to go for a healer type which apparently is a Defender. So, enter Bimble Gagpuss, a tiny red and white healing defender who shoots lightning from his fingers. I went to the SuperGroup Registrar, but it didn't give me the option to pay rent - might be the Leader who has to do that. Leader is Sharp Sticks, which I assume is one of us.

Aye, Sharp Sticks is me. I think it made me boss as I was the first to log in in ages. Alas, I still can't pay the rent, as only VIP players can do that. If anyone does start paying, I'm perfectly happy to leaderise them.
