I don't know about you but I think this looks amazing. And I'm not particularly a fan of the genre. Some of the features are great and the abilities look like a lot of fun.

It reminds me of Titan Quest, (having never played any previous diablo games) which I enjoyed until I missed a few games and was behind on everyone else. I think I might enjoy Diablo III more in co-op though, single player titan quest couldn't really hold my interest very long.

Welp, Titan Quest IS a blatant shameless Diablo clone.

I guess, I never played any Diablo games.

I've enjoyed all the previous Diablo games, so it's a fair assumption I'd enjoy this. There are a few things that make me want to recoil though so I'll wait for the reviews I think.

Is that things from the video or the Internet rants about real money auction and always-online DRM? Everything in the videos look good to me.

Sorry, from the reports of DRM and cash sales. I was posting from my phone so I didn't realise there was a video on your post. I've been trying to avoid the rants and take a rational view of it, so I'm keeping an open mind, but both those things have generally been bad in the past. I'm expecting my PCG sub soon so hopefully there'll be a review in there.

I can understand why the DRM might put people off, but I still dont understand why people are grumpy about the cash auction house. No one is going to horse you to use it, so surely you can ignore it and it will be the same as if it isnt there?

That's what I'm hoping, and the intelligent* part of me thinks this, but I can't help feeling bad about it.
*arguably

I think it's a future of gaming and there's not much we can do about it. Well, there could be but not enough people really care enough to make a difference.
I entered the world of paying real money for in-game items with TF2, two keys to unlock crates. And I don't feel bad about it. Although I do delete crate drops immediately now, to avoid the temptation.

RPS posting on D3's DRM
I won't be buying it.
Fuck off if I can't pause a single player game because of always on DRM and run the risk of getting kicked to menu if my connection drops. cupcake that in the fuck.

Lack of pause is pretty shitty.

Isn't it identical to SCII's DRM?
I've never had a problem with it.

You could pause the game for as long as you wanted without having to replay the level in SC2. It's one of those things where if you have a good connection, you'll never notice it - Dragon Age and Mass Effect had a similar thing where it would freeze if it lost the connection to the achievement servers, but unlike this they still allowed to you carry on with no connection, or indeed play the game without logging in at all if you chose.
This more like an MMO, where all the game data has to come from or be validated by the server, which is stupid for a single-player game. It's not even for any altruistic or misguidedly benevolent reason, such as ensuring players all get the same experience or to guarantee nobody cheats to make a super character they then take online - it's so that everyone is exposed to that real money auction house and Blizzard get their cut.

Cynical excuses or not, I really can't bring myself to want to pay money for this at the moment. Never say never, but I really find it to be a liberty they're taking. Okay, market it as a multiplayer game then, but that's not the game I want to play.

I can't help but feel that the beta is being taken as the finished article. Starcraft 2 had the always-on mechanic but you could go offline before playing, it just locked multiplayer and the achievements.

"THATS IT, IM NEVER BUYING IT!" seems a bit of an over hasty reaction.

Sorry, but certain things have a very slim chance to be changed at this point, such as some of the game code running on Blizzard's servers even in SP, meaning you have lag and ping in the singleplayer modes.
Say what you want about it being beta, but that's a design choice as it would have been programmed from the ground up to do that (It's how MMOs are designed).
Sure, there's the vague chance that the beta is actually an MP client which has had the SP hacked into it for beta purposes (and so the main code isn't distributed yet), but that would be an extremely inefficient way of making a game.

I dunno, the whole "Play offline" thing came very late in SCII's development, after beta feedback.
Blizzard like to keep quiet about these sorts of things.

I'd be interested to hear Blizzard's rebuttal to all this hullabaloo. It's becoming more obvious to me that they're pushing to make this game as multiplayer as possible, which is not a bad thing, but the way they appear to be implementing it is a bit harsh.
