W40K: SPACE MARINE!

Yeah. It's pretty awesome. I'm not really that much of a W40K fan but Space Marine makes you feel like an appropriately dangerous badass. Performing the executions on orks is gory and exhilarating. If you like shooting and cutting orks in half with chainswords, I recommend it. :likesitall:

The multiplayer seems like a lot of fun as well. I did manage to get a 4 person killstreak on my first life, and the maps seem interesting.

PCG dropped a pre-edition review on their site and gave it a pretty respectable 82%. Despite all this though, I can't bring myself to be interested in it.

Kinda this. I played through the demo on the xbawks, and can confirm that the combat is badass. Trouble is, its the same bit of badass over and over, and I cant see how they can vary it enough to keep me interested for a full games worth. I'll definitely grab it in the inevitable steam sale, but im not paying full price for it.

One thing I will say about it: their waffling about cover makes sense now. You take cover in as much as you can stand behind a wall, but the way they have made your guy feel so heavy and powerful makes ducking down behind a crate or barrel seem like an absurd idea. It would feel like parking a tank behind a picket fence for protection.

This was always going to be a budget game for me unless it got 90% reviews in PCG and the like.

Quite interested in playing it, but I still don't think it'll be as close to the lore as I want from a 40k game.
Even though it's also apparently quite an out and out shooty game, I'm waiting on Serious Sam 3 to satisfy that itch.

Ignoring the initial "woah" factor, that actually looks pretty boring to play, pretty explosions and good particle effects do not a good game make. There also only appears to be a couple of "special" finishing moves.

It may look that way, but when you're playing it, it really feels awesome.

Also, the guy playing isn't that good either, but it's the first video of that part I found.

Looks to me like one of those games that the Yahtzee would get his "like God of War but" stamp out for.

Sorry Deej, but 3:50 in and I got bored of waiting for the interesting bit. While I was waiting though I decided I wanted to play a game as a Titan on an epic scale battlefield.

That would be Epic. lololol.

oh, hell, ive just thought of an amazing idea: Battlefield 40k. Beef, but with 40k units, tanks, all the way up to titans. It would need insane-huge maps and player limits, but oh god yes.

I was really looking forward to this, despite it being a 3rd person shooter, having played a large chunk of the first mission, it seems very clunky, but not in a good way, I've found myself walking/running around with a bit of terrain thats broken off being pushed in front of me, and theedges are very badly done, in places there a good meter or so infront of you that you can't get too, some edges don't even come upto your knees, yet stop you going any further, and the most frustrating bit, not even being able to step up a tiny step to somewhere you can go, so having to go the long way around.

It really doesn't feel like your playing a Space Marine.

It is well known that stairs are the arch-enemy of all cybernetic/power-suited soldiers.

although one thing they did do well is, Bolter Shell meets Orc Head, BOOOOM! Head everywhere :D Beyond that, I don't think its hugely worth playing, or if you do buy it, one for the bargain bin.

I've started paying spesh mahreen, I think it's missing a lot of polish, a good story and some originality in map design. But it's still fun to bash lots of stuff and hack things up. Shame it had to be ultramarines. With the devs and licensees involved surely they could have done it on blood ravens?

I want a chaos version now where I get to be a proper evil bastard.

I still want a Dark Heresy MMO, that would be fun.

Who wants to be an Inquisition mob?

That would be interesting. Far more interesting than this or the rumoured 40k MMONG.
