Spec me a new keyboard, bitches!

Werd,

I think my keyboard has gone weird, some keys act as though they are pressed down but they appear mechanically fine (unfortunately the V key doesn't do it vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv) I could fiddle around with logitech drivers and stuff or take it as a sign to buy something new.

I don't want to spend a lot of money and wired is fine.

What keyboards do you use?

I bought a Cherry Stream XT keyboard by accident. It's got low-profile keys like a laptop, but it feels so good.

This is a good feature!: 'Spill resistant - not sensitive to fluids'

It looks cheap, does it feel cheap?

Cherry make excellent keyboards. There's not a lot to a keyboard so they don't need to be expensive to be good, unless they have additional fluff.

I'm using one of these:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us ... /JQD-00001

It's pretty good, though I know there are lots of more expensive and better ones out there. My biggest complaint with it is that the media keys along the top are sluggish to work or fail to work at all, for no indicated reason. I'll be wanting to turn up the music in my headphones and mash the Volume Up button and be disappointed, only to have it shoot up a minute later. The Play/Back/Forward buttons get messed up constantly, so much so that I can't really rely on them do to what they're supposed to do. I bet if I used Windows Media Player they'd work fine, but with Winamp, you have to be deliberate with how you use them.

Otherwise, I really like the backlit keys a lot. Really great for night/low light use. It might be a must have feature for me for now on. Otherwise, I could do without the macro keys on the side. I haven't found a good use for them yet, and they just make it bigger, taking up space that I really wish it didn't. Overall I like it, but it's got some really dumb issues that can frustrate the fuck out of me.

I'm using a logitech illuminated keyboard, very flat, very nice, about £50.

The Cherry ones are good.

I'm still using my old Saitek Gaming keyboard. Still works well after over 4 years of use. It feels good as well, and it's also not showing any kinda of wear either.

I got a logitech ultraX premium keyboard. It's very cheap, flat but not too flat and robust. It's all I want in a keyboard, but I might have to invest in a illuminated one in the future.

I've been considering one of these Logitech nameless flat keyboards, although secretly I covet the ridiculous solar powered version.

Does it have backlit keys, so it can power itself in a dark room?

Not sure about the backlight, but if I remember my brief research from about a month ago, the battery will last a few months in the dark.

Just bought my third ultrax premium, I loves them so.
Not that they are particularly fragile or anything, I just ruined the other two by smashing keys of during a house move and pouring coke all over the other. (it still worked, just keys were all minging and sticky).

I wouldnt want to go back to full-height keys anymore, laptop style keys are much easier to type on I find.
In any case, when buying a keyboard, I always check that it has a full size enter key - not one the size of shift, delete is in the right place, separate arrow keys and number pad. This seems to vary from model to model.

Think I've mentioned it before, but I still have my old Saitek. The thing is the tank of keyboards, even after Sprog 'playing' with it (read: trying to destroy it) for years it's in perfect condition. It just doesn't have the spinny volume control my Logitech does.

Speaking of durable keyboards

I'm not sure it's indestructible enough for the horse of my rage.
