Supposedly, people found a way to turn regular PS3s into essentially dev consoles, which in turn enabled access to PSN's developer network. Since Sony never expected anyone to be able to access the developer network, it was pretty much unprotected, leading to massive PSN piracy and exposing all your data.

The logging-in problems have been going on for about two months, this admission is way overdue.

With the theft of potentially 75 million people's identities, this far exceeds the level of bungling even our governments are capable of.

SO the logging in problems weren't caused by my modem? That's eh... a good thing I guess.

Protip, Sony: if it has users on it and/or is connected to the internet, it needs protecting. If you want any more advice you'll have to repair my telly though.

Like someone on twitter said, the fact that this personal information got out is bad. The fact that they then didn't tell anyone about it for a week is fucking terrible.

Criminal charges should be bought against Sony for this. But could the people affected get the money generated, rather than the lawyers. Thanks.
