Spec me an Online Digital Vault

I want to back up all my pictures (24Gb) somewhere other than in my house.

I have them all on an external HD and numerous DVD's but just incase anything was to happen and we lost the lot I want an alternative 3rd party backup, e.g. online digital vault.

I also have 40Gb of Video so I'm after 100Gb storage total.

Any Suggestions ?

That's a Lot of storage for onliney stuff. Amazon's clouddrive might be most usable, and cheap.

I've used idrive in the past for businessy stuff, but I dunno how it is with the bigger files you have. Fairly cheap, too.

The free 25gb of windows live cloudy type space would be good for your pictures.

You can set permissions too, from your login only (obv) or add people on your contact list access to read and or write to the space. I've used it whilst in afghan to send up to date pics and vids to the missus to great effect. I used suprised to find they give you 25gb of space for any files for free.

Windows Live, Brilliant. Didn't think of that !!!

I just opend a Flickr Pro account. Unlimited monthly uploads, Unlimited space for $24 a year.

You could copy everything to an external drive and store it at a relative's house.

On-line wise though, if it's just pictures and video, then places like Flickr, Photobucket will keep your stuff forever, even without paying them - but a subscription will unlock more upload/storage options.

Another alternative is the photo-printing services like Truprint or Snapfish, you can upload pics there, but I don't know if there are limits.

For 100GB of general storage, you'll likely have to pay. There are things like DropBox, SugarSync, IDrive and ElephantDrive. Prices vary between $5 a month to $150 a year for that amount, the cheapest being limited to to home use and a single PC. I'm gonna use the Windows Live Sky Drive and Flickr for the Pictures and I like that idea of also storing them at a relative's house on a HD. That'll work a treat, Didn't think of that, Thank you.
