Okay, given Pete has caused a bit of a revival in the 5punk radio thing, I figure we may as well throw it open to the jury.

So, do we wanna continue with the random/scheduling when bored system?

Or, so we wanna go back to the old semi-managed system where people can arrange weekly shows/slots with open time for non-scheduled shows?

As far as I can see, the scheduled setup allows for more reliable shows, but may kinda hurt random shows, whereas the random system allows for more spontaneous shows which'll probably have less listeners than on a managed system.

I figure as long as the scheduled system isn't rigid (like it is now) it won't be a huge problem.

(see also the end time scheduler suggestion)

all really just a case of working it out between ourselves too.

Semi-scheduled sounds good. It's nice to be able to let people know about a special show in advance, but I've seen overly restrictive scheduling stifle some net radio stations.

I like the way things are at the moment. I've done a few shows and one of them had to be rescheduled at the last minute as I was ill and had b0rked Internets. A lack of any kind of schedule would harm the amount of listeners I think but over scheduling would take the spontaneity. Last night's Joose show followed by WEY's was a good example of how random can be good.

I voted for neither. I believe that if you want a designated slot, you should add it to the 5cheduler.
However, if you plan on doing a random show you should always check the 5cheduler first to make sure you won't take up somebody's slot.
Also, if you plan on doing a long show last minute (like I have today) then this ought to have some kind of entry on the 5cheduler, if only to let other people know when the radio will be freed up again

So I'd say you need to have a sensible scheduled/spontaneous mix, and the main thing is to never run into somebody else's 5cheduled show as that's just plain rude (unless of course something happens to you whilst you are away from the P.C. like an alien abduction involving anal probing, or perhaps having to save a kitten stuck up a tree.

If we try and horse it into a regular shows style of thing, we will come up against the ever present cat-herding issues of 5punk. As long as people get their shows on the 5cheduler as early as possible, I think that's the best system.

Of course, this doesnt stop someone from just 5cheduling their shows regularly, if they really want to do a regular slot.
