Hello bummers!

Just in case any of you were thinking of joining me and stoat in a galaxy far far away (no, not that one) heres what you need to know:

eve is very spec friendly, you really dont need that good a computer to run it. If you can run any of the FPS's in the 5punk forum, you can run eve.
Also, you dont even need broadband for it, as i quite happily played it on 56k for some months.

Its rather slow moving, compared to UT and suchlike. Hell, its slow moving compared to nearly anything. But on the other hand, its a lot more involving.

its mighty purdy.

my name in game is (unsurprisingly) joose. If you join up, gimmie a yell, and i can probably give you a bit of a hand in the form of equipment i dont use any more but would be usefull to new players.

If you want a go on it, but not sure you want to sign up proper just yet, either stick up a message on here or PM me or something and i can send you a weeks free trial. You dont have to sign up properly for it, so if the week ends and you dont want to carry it on, you can just forget about it. But if you do want to carry it on, you can feed em your credit card details and carry on playing! yay!

erm...thats everything i can think of at the moment. Join me! ra!

Once you've activated your trial account (Click account management at the logon screen) I suggest you pop along to http://www.eve-online.com/faq/faq_01.asp and check out the Picture Tutorial listed on the left.

there's a couple of tutorial missions to get you started once you're in too.

Edit: I'm called Sotta in-game. If you see me there today, please tell me to fuck off and get some work done. Thankyou.

Excellent! Do so!

If we get enough people interested, i may even consider starting up a 5punk corp...

sounds interesting, is the trial version you have 7 days? Did i hear mention of a 30 day one?

Either way would be up for giving it a go

yeah, the free trial is only 7 days.

if you buy an account straight off, you get the first 30 days free. well, free except for the amount you payed for.

theres two ways to buy it straight out:

1) buy a CD-key online and download the client. Its not a very big client, so shouldnt take too long if your on broadband. The CD-key costs about the same as a months fee, so you dont really gain anything this way over the trail period.

2) buy the game. Newgs found it for 6.99 here: http://www.kamikazestoat.co.uk/5punk/viewtopic.php?t=73

the second way will save you a couple of quid, but youve got to wait for the CD to arrive. Personally, i would have one less pint at the local, and not wait a couple of days. But then, im impatient.

If you want to give the trial a go, send me a PM with your email in it, and ill register you. You need someone with a full account to register you for the "buddy program", which is what they are calling the trial thingy.

how much

does EVE ONLINE cost a month to play?

just less than ?10 a month i think when i was looking it up the other day

depends on the way you want to pay. If you pay one month at a time, it works out to about ?10 (give or take a few pennies). If you pay 3 months at a time it works out to ?8.30 a month. If you pay for six months at a time (like i do) it comes to ?7.60 a month.

Of course, if you think you might be giving it up after a month, you would be better off going for the one month at a time option. But I would be surprised if you didnt get sucked into this game and you never give it up. Ever.

If you sign up for a month at a time, and then decidee you really like it and are likely to still be playing for months, you can alter the way you pay, and the next time they charge you you will be charged appropriately.

You cant change down a plan though, obviously. And charge you every three months, or six months, if you go for one of those deals, it only comes out monthly if you go for the monthly plan.

Sorry, im babbling a bit, being battling with CSS all day. hope that was more informative than confusing :?
